Introduction to BGAN
2.1.2.1 Bearer type identification
To identify the large number of permutations of bearer symbol rate, modulation type,
frame/burst duration and coding rate, the format (similar to the SDM format) is
explained in the figure below.
Example: The bearer type F80T1Q4B identifies a continuous forward bearer with a
80 ms frame structure that holds 4 FEC blocks per frame. This bearer has a
symbol rate of 33600 symbols per second and is modulated with QPSK.
Example: The bearer type R5T2X1B identifies a return bearer with a 5 ms burst
structure that holds a single FEC block. This bearer has a symbol rate of
67200 symbols per second and is modulated with 16-QAM.
Example: The bearer type FR80T5X64-13B identifies a continuous return bearer with
a 80 ms frame structure that holds 13 FEC blocks per frame. This bearer
has a symbol rate of 168000 symbols per second and is modulated with
64-QAM.
