Section 2 : Hazards Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW : Extremely flammable liquid and vapor. Vapor may cause flash

fire. Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through skin. Cannot be made nonpoisonous. Causes

irritation to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. May cause light-headedness, fatigue, vomiting,

and headache. Affects central nervous system, heart and liver. Ingestion can cause

irreversible injury to the nervous system, blindness, or death. Blue formula contains

methylene chloride which may cause cancer. The risk of cancer depends on the level and

duration of exposure. Avoid liquid, mist, or vapor contact. Avoid breathing vapors. For

lighting purpose, use it outdoors with good ventilation.

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

INHALATION:

A slight irritant to the mucous membranes. Toxic effects exerted

upon nervous system, particularly the optic nerve. Once absorbed

into the body, it is very slowly eliminated. Symptoms of overexposure

may include headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision,

blindness, and possibly death depending on exposure. The blue

formula contains methylene chloride. Overexposure to methylene

chloride may affect the heart by elevating carboxyhemoglobin in the

Color Flame Torch Oil Revision 2 blood. INGESTION: Very toxic. Similar symptoms to those from inhalation. Can intoxicate and cause blindness. If vomiting results in aspiration, chemical pneumonia could follow. SKIN CONTACT: Causes skin to become dry and cracked. Skin absorption can occur; symptoms may parallel inhalation exposure. EYE CONTACT: Irritant. Continued exposure may cause eye lesions.
