Overview of operating elements Key assignment on the handset Lift / Replace key: Ties up a line when answering a call and before or after dialling. Disconnects from a line after the end of a call. Loudspeaker key turns hands free mode on or off on the handset. Emergency call key triggers an emergency call if the emergency call function is set up. Press down the key for a few seconds in case of emergency.

Overview of operating elements Symbols in the top line of the display: The in / out of range indication shows how good the radio contact between the base station and the handset is. See also Page 10. The loudspeaker on the handset is connected. The telephone line is busy. External call via the handset. Emergency call is active after the emergency call key has been pressed. Appendix Description of the menu system CE mark This device meets the requirements of the EU directive: 1999/5/EC directive on radio systems and telecommunications equipment and the mutual recognition of their conformity. Conformity with the above directive is confirmed by the CE mark on the device. The telephone can be operated using a menu system that has been kept very simple.
Description of the menu system The settings for important functions are protected against unauthorised access by a four-digit code (telephone PIN). By default, the telephone PIN is 0000. Enter the PIN when you are requested to do so in the display. Description of the menu system in the manual: Key Display MENU Operations Press Menü key. Choose Select 3 using the arrow key. Connecting the base station to a PABX system Choose Select 3 using the arrow key. Select 3 Flash Time Press the Select 3 key. Selecting the flash time: Select 1: Flash 1 = 200 msec. (Hook Flash) Select 2: Flash 2 = 80 msec. Select 3: Flash 3 = 110 msec. Select 4: Flash 4 = 130 msec. Select X Press the Select X key (x = 1...4) Select further settings. Or... Setting up the telephone Connecting the base station to a PABX system Range Outdoors, the range is up to 300 metres. Inside buildings, a range of up to 50 metres is possible. The number of bars in the display symbol reduces the further away from the base station the handset is. The reception also becomes correspondingly weaker. Setting the dialling pause for prefix digits You can set the duration of the dialling pause after entry of the prefix digits to 1-6 seconds (depending on the type of system).
Connecting the base station to a PABX system Programming EIC (Exchange Identification Code) / PSIC (Primery Station Identification Code) If your telephone is connected to a PABX system, when you first set up the telephone you must enter an exchange identification code (EIC) and specify an automatic dialling pause (after dialling the EIC or pressing the R key).
Setting up the telephone Removing the cables First of all unplug the AC adapter from the 230V socket and then remove the TAE plug from your telephone connections TAE socket. To remove the cables on the underside of the telephone press (e.g. with a ballpoint pen) the plugs locking clips towards the body of the plug and pull out the plug by the cable.
Using several handsets Internal requests If you are in a call with an external party, without disrupting this connection, you can call another internal party to consult with them. When you end this internal call, you are once again connected to the external party. Press the intercom key. z.B. 2 Setting up the telephone damage to health or personal injury. Do not use any other types of chargers. This could damage the batteries.
Using several handsets Setting up the telephone The charge level of the batteries in the handset is shown in the display: Batteries dead Batteries up to 40 % charged Batteries up to 60 % charged Batteries up to 80 % charged Batteries fully charged. The first time you charge the batteries, we recommend an uninterrupted charging time of at least 16 hours, regardless of the charge level display! After each call, you can return your handset to the base station.
Base station settings around 30 seconds. The handset can be registered during this time. Remark: GAP (Generic Access Profile) is a standard for combining cordless telephones and base stations. Storing the base station speed dialling numbers You can find a description of this programming operation in the section Using the base station speed dialling keys on Page 28.
Setting up the telephone Customising the handset Inserting the name plate on the base station OK Press the OK key. Base PIN Enter the 4-digit PIN (default setting 0000). For other manufacturers base stations, the PIN can have 8 digits. Press the Paging key on the base station until you can hear a sequence of tones. Then release the key. The sequence of tones lasts around 30 seconds. The handset can be registered during this time. Fig.
Customising the handset Selecting base station Assuming that the handset is registered on several base stations, you can - set it to a particular base station or - set it to the best station. This results in the handset automatically switching to the base station with the best reception. MENU Press the Menu key. Choose Select 7 using the arrow key. Making telephone calls Making an internal call Internal calls are calls to other handsets. They are free of charge. Press the intercom key. Turning Auto Hook on / off e.g. 2 When the other party answers, you can speak to them. With this function turned on, you only need to lift the handset from the base station / charging unit to accept a call. By default, Auto Hook is turned off.
Making telephone calls If a call has not been accepted, the letter symbol appears in the display. Press the Letter symbol key. The call number is displayed. If you want to dial the call number immediately: Press the Lift / Replace key. The call number is dialled automatically. Or... Back Press the Back key, to return to the telephones idle mode. The last incoming call number is stored in the handset. A new call number overwrites the previous one. You can dial the call number at any time.
Setting system functions Remark: After Reset all memories the room monitoring code is retained. The call numbers entered for the police and fire service are also not deleted. Making telephone calls Hands free mode On the handset In hands free mode, you can place the handset vertically, leaving your hands free. Other people can listen and join in. When dialling, for example, you will hear the ringing tone without having to hold the handset to your ear.
Convenient calling Setting system functions Redial (manual) OK Your handset automatically stores the last 10 numbers dialled. Press the Redial key. The list of call numbers is displayed. e.g. 12345 or Select the desired call number using the arrow key. If the call number is longer than one line: Hold down the INT or R key to display the first part or the last part of the call number. Press the Lift / Replace key. The call number is dialled. Erasing the redial list Press the Redial key.

Changing the code: Delete the figures and enter the new code. Press the OK key. Select further settings. Or... Press the R key to leave that menu level. The code 0000 is not permitted and will not be accepted.

The entries can be retrieved and dialled quickly and easily. Select 1 Press the Menu key. Phonebook Press the Select 1 key. Choose Select 2 using the arrow key. Setting system functions Dialling restrictions You can set two types of Dialling restrictions on your telephone: Baby call (direct call): A stored call number can be dialled by pressing any key (with the exception of the loudspeaker, emergency key, intercom and R keys and the speed dialling keys of the base station). Full restriction: Essentially, no call numbers can be dialled.
Setting system functions Convenient calling Sorting the entries The entries are sorted in the following order: 1. Spaces 2. Special characters 3. Digits (0-9) 4. Letters (alphabetically) To avoid an entry being placed in alphabetical order in the phonebook, add a space or a special character in front of the name. The entry then goes to the top of the list. Setting system functions Convenient calling Using the base station speed dialling keys The base station has 4 speed dialling keys, to which you can assign call numbers. Calls dialled using a speed dialling key can only be continued on the base station in hands free mode. It is not possible to transfer a call to a handset. Each call number you want to store may have a maximum of 24 digits. Storing call numbers to the list of released numbers for ringing signals 10 list locations (0-9) can be occupied.
Setting system functions Turning automatic redial on / off Convenient calling Dialling via speed dialling keys By default, your handset is set for Manual redial of the 10 most recently dialled call numbers. Instead of this function, you can program Automatic redial. For details on using Automatic redial, see Page 22. MENU Press the Menu key. Press the desired speed dialling key. The base station switches to Hands free and the call number is dialled. The LED lights up in red.
