Introduction Introduction Congratulations on your purchase of this VoIP module. You have chosen a forwardlooking enhancement to your telephone system. With the VoIP module, you can log in with up to 10 SIP providers and make calls over the internet. Of course, it is also possible to log in with a SIP proxy of your local network (e.g. to use the system as ISDN/analogue to VoIP gateway).
Startup Scope of delivery Before installation, please check that the delivery is complete. The delivery includes: • 1 VoIP module • 1 Installation guide (this document) Notes on installation • Installation must be carried out by an expert. Installation work on a 230V mains network must only be carried out by a qualified electrician. VDE 0100 must be observed.
Startup If you make internet telephone calls without voice compression (in accordance with standard G.711), you need a bandwidth of approx. 85 kbps per call. If you want to use a standard ADSL connection with an upload rate of 128 kbps, this may lead to problems with voice transfer if you use the internet at the same time (upload/download of files). In this case, make sure your router gives priority to voice packets. Contact your router manufacturer for information on this.
Startup Startup Installation of the VoIP module Tools required • Small/medium slotted screwdriver for tiptel.com 410, 810, 411 and 811 Installation sequence Observe the following sequence when installing the VoIP module: LEDs • Turn off the system (disconnect power cord) • Open the housing: Insert a slotted screwdriver (4 mm) or similar from below at the positions shown right (1) into the grooves in the top of the housing until it can go no further.
Startup Dismantling of the VoIP module Tools required • Small/medium slotted screwdriver for tiptel.com 410, 810, 411 and 811 Dismantling sequence To dismantle the VoIP module, perform the installation steps in reverse order. Note: When dismantling the VoIP module, never use tools to remove the module from the slot. This could damage your telephone system's main board. Remove the VoIP module by gently moving it from side to side while pulling upwards.
Configuration Configuration (External) Ports menu You configure the VoIP module using the telephone system's configuration software. The telephone system automatically detects the existence of a VoIP module and the necessary configuration menus are activated. The VoIP module menu options are displayed in the (External) Ports menu under SIP(VoIP). Note: Extensive online help is integrated in the configuration. If you click a highlighted title, another window opens displaying the help text for this topic.
Help in the event of malfunctions Help in the event of malfunctions Description of possible malfunctions A few possible errors are described below, together with suggestions for how these can be corrected. The VoIP module is not identified • The module has not been inserted far enough into the slot. Push the module completely onto the contact surface. • Check whether the VoIP module has been inserted the right way round. Turn the module round if necessary. • The module is defective.
Help in the event of malfunctions Registration was successful, device may not be contactable for incoming calls • Provider's SIP server does not respond to "keep-alive signals" within the expected timeframe. • The setting for the SIP port of the VoIP module does not match the NAT setting of your DSL router. Status LEDs If you suspect your system is malfunctioning or if an error has occurred, the status LEDs on the telephone system provide an initial indication of the possible cause.
Appendix Appendix Service You have purchased a modern product of Tiptel granting a continuous level of the highest quality. This is underlined by a certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001. If, however, problems occur or you have questions on operating the device, please contact your local dealer. Warranty Please contact your local dealer or importer for details of warranty for non EC countries.
Appendix Notes on settlement: Repairs can only be conducted by the Tiptel Service. A warranty repair does not extend the warranty period – neither for the replaced parts nor for the device. This warranty is not transferable and shall expire if the device is sold on to another party. It shall also expire if the device is interfered with by third parties or if the serial number on the device has been removed or made illegible. There is a warranty seal on the device.
