Introducing traffic information
You can receive traffic information in two ways:
• TomTom Traffic
• Traffic Message Channel (RDS-TMC)
Using traffic information, your TomTom GO can automatically adjust your route to mini-
mise any delays.
About TomTom Traffic
TomTom Traffic is a unique TomTom service providing real-time traffic infor-
mation. For more information about TomTom services and subscriptions, go
to tomtom.com/services.
In combination with IQ Routes, Traffic helps you plan the optimum route to your destina-
tion taking into account the current local traffic conditions.
Your TomTom GO regularly receives information about the changing traffic conditions. If
traffic jams or other incidents are found on your current route, your GO will offer to replan
your route to try and avoid any delays.
Safety Notice
Your TomTom navigation device contains a GSM/GPRS module which can interfere with
electrical devices such as cardiac pacemakers, hearing aids and aviation equipment.
Interference with these devices may endanger the health or life of others.
Do not use near unprotected electrical units or in areas where the use of mobile tele-
phones is prohibited, such as hospitals and airplanes.
About RDS-TMC
The Traffic Message Channel (TMC) also known as RDS-TMC, transmits traffic information
as a radio signal and is available free of charge in many countries.
TMC is not a TomTom Service, but is available when using the TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic
Receiver.
Note: TomTom is not responsible for the availability or quality of traffic information pro-
vided by the Traffic Message Channel.
The Traffic Message Channel (TMC) is not available in all countries. To check the availa-
bility of TMC services in your country, go to tomtom.com/traffic.
Using Traffic information
To view TMC traffic information on your TomTom GO, connect the TomTom RDS-TMC
Traffic Receiver to the USB connector on yourGO.
