Preparations
 Beforeopeningthecontaineroffreshbrakeuid,readattentivelythewarning
referencesofthebrakeuidmanufacturer.
 Brake uid may be harmful to health and damage coatings and surfaces.
Shoulditcomeintocontactwithyourskinorvehicleparts,removeitimmedi-
atelyusingplentyofwater.
 Brakeuidsbehavehygroscopically(absorbmoisturefromtheair)andthere-
foretheoriginalcontainerofthebrakeuidmustbeimmediatelyclosedafter
use.Absorbedwaterreducestheboilingpointofthebrakeuid,thusmaking
theuidunusableanddangerous.Airbubblesmayforminthecourseofop-
erationaffectingthefunctionalityofthebrakesystem.
 Wearsuitableprotectiveequipment(protectiveglovesandglasses)duringthe
work.
• Screwtheairhoseadapterintotheairconnection(6)onthehandleofthebleedingdevice.
• Connectthebleedingdevicetothepressurehoseoftheaircompressor.
• Switchtheaircompressoronandwaituntilthepressurehasbuiltup.
• Setthepressureregulatorofthecompressorto6-8bar.
• Openthecoverofthebrakeuidreservoironthevehicle.
• Chooseoneoftherellerbottlesprovided.Thekitcontainsarellerbottlewithanadjustable
outletnozzle(3)andarellerbottlewithaxedoutletnozzle(4).Itshouldbeplacedwiththe
outletnozzledownwards,sothatthenozzleisjustbelowthelevelofthebrakeuidinthe
brakeuidreservoir.
 Iftheoutletnozzleisplacedabovethebrakeuidlevel,thefreshbrakeuidwill
continuerunning andcause the brake uid reservoir to overow.If theoutlet is
placedjustbelowthebrakeuidlevel,onlyasmuchfreshbrakeliquidcanbeadded
aslaterwillbeextractedinthecourseofthebleeding.Thusthebrakeuidreservoir
willnotoverow.
 Therellerbottleisfurnishedwithasuspensionbelttofacilitatetheplacement(2).
Additionally,amagneticbase(1)isprovidedtoenablethefasteningofthereller
bottlesonmetalpartsaswell.
 Ifthedescribedplacementisimpossibleduetospatialconditions,thexedoutletsof
therellerbottlemaybeextendedusinganappropriatehose.Theendofthelatter
istobeplacedjustunderthesurfaceofthebrakeuidasdescribed.
• Fillthechosenrellerbottlewithfreshbrakeuidandplaceitasdescribedabove.
Bleedingthebrakesystem
 Donotactivatethebrakesinthecourseofthebleedingoperation.
 Carryoutbleedingoperationincompliancewiththesequenceprovidedby
thevehiclemanufacturer.If the sequence isunknown,requestinformation
fromtherelevantspecialistworkshoporvehiclemanufacturer.Youmayneed
tobleednotonlytheindividualwheelbrakecylinder,butalsootherpoints,for
exampletheABSsystemandthemastercylinder.
 Aftercompletionofoperation,buildupthebrakepressurebybrakesactua-
tionbeforeyouusethevehicleagain.Forthispurpose,pressthebrakepedal
orhandleuntilthebrakepressurebecomesnoticeablysufcient.
 Beforeandafterbleeding,applysomecopperpasteontothethreadofthebleeder
nipples(donotunscrewthem!).Thispreventsseizingofthethreadandkeepsit
tightinthecourseofthebleedingoperation.Thus,noairwillbedrawnthroughthe
bleedernipplethreadintothebleedinghose(5)duetovacuum.
• Plugtheconnectorofthetransparentbleedinghose(5)ofthebleedingdeviceontotherst
bleedernipple.
• Openthebleedernipplewithanappropriatewrenchbyaboutaquarterturn.
• Pressthevacuumreleaselever(7)onthebleedingdevice.Thebrakeuidisdrawnoutofthe
brakesystembythecreatedvacuumaslongasyoukeepthedrainlever(7)pressed.The
extractedbrakeuidgoesintothecollectionreservoir(8)ofthebleedingdevice.Atthesame
time,theextractedbrakeuidisreplenishedfromtherellerbottleatthebrakeuidreservoir.
 Makesurethattherellerbottleisalwaysfull,otherwiseairwillbedrawninto
thebrakesystem.Shouldthishappen,theentireprocedureistoberepeated.
• Assoonastheextractedbrakeuidstartsowingwithoutairbubblesthroughthetransparent
bleedinghose(5),releasethevacuumreleaselever(7)andclosethebleedernipple.
• Removethetransparent bleedinghose (5)from the bleeder nipple and briey press the
vacuumreleaselever(7),toextracttheremainingbrakeuidoutofthebleedinghose(5)to
thecollectionreservoir(8).
• Repeattheprocedurewithallotherbleedernipplesofthebrakesystem.
Changingbrakeuid
• Repeattheproceduredescribedforbrakesystembleeding,butextractoutasmuchoftheold
brakeuidfromthebrakeuidreservoirofthevehicleaspossible.Alargesyringe(withouta
cannula)frommedicalsuppliescanbeveryusefulforthispurpose.
 Bynomeansdrawouttoomuchbrakeuidtopreventairenteringintothe
brakesystem.Thebrakeuidlevelshouldbejustabovetheintakeopeningof
thebrakeuidreservoir.
• Begintheprocedureasdescribedforbleedingoperation,butextractasmuchbrakeuidas
itisrequiredfornewbrakeuidtostartowingthroughthetransparentbleedinghose(5)of
thebleedingdevice.
 Thenewbrakeuidcanbeeasilydistinguishedbyalightercolour.
 Therellerbottlewillpossiblyneedrellingduringthebrakeuidchangeprocess.
Thebrakeuidreservoirmustneverbeempty!
• Carryoutthesameprocedureintheorderprescribedbythevehiclemanufacturer.
Maintenanceandcare
Thebrakebleedingkitismaintenance-free.Cleanitwithcleansoftcloth.
Removeaggressivebrakeuidfromreservoirsandbleedinghosetoprotectmaterialofthe
reservoirsandbleedinghose.
Disposal
Pleasedisposeofthebrakebleedingkitwhenitisnolongerofuse,accordingtothecurrent
statutoryrequirements.
Brakeuidishazardouswasteandmaynotbedisposedtotheenvironmentorhouseholdwas-
te.Theymustalsonotbemixedwithotherliquids.Disposethecollectedbrakeuidproperly
accordingtobrakeuidmanufacturer’sspecications.Hazardouswaste,inparticular,brake
uidiscollectedonaregularbasisinmostmunicipalities.
