User manual

The product is designed according to protection I. The soldering iron must only be
connected to a proper grounding type mains socket.
The mains socket into which the mains plug is plugged must be easily accessible.
Do not pull the mains plug from the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
Do not use the soldering iron in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions where
combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a danger of
explosion!
Do not fasten any items to the soldering iron; never cover the soldering iron; there
is a risk of re!
Do not remove soldering residue from the soldering tip by tapping; this will dam-
age the heater element and the soldering iron. Use a cleaning sponge suitable for
soldering tips.
When cleaning with a water-soaked cleaning sponge, only the soldering tip itself
must be cleaned. The soldering iron, the power cable and the mains plug must not
get damp or wet as this may damage it; there is danger of a fatal electric shock!
Never use the soldering rod to heat up liquids.
Never work on electrical components that are powered up. Always switch off the
power beforehand.
Caution! Touching or soldering at condensers (or similar components), or leads/
cables connected to them, may result in a lethal electric shock! Condensers can
be under power for hours even after switching off the power supply!
Depending on the workpiece of the soldering method, the workpiece must be xed
in a suitable mounting device. This leaves both your hands free for the soldering
process.
When working, only hold the soldering iron at its handle. Never touch the soldering
tip and the heater element; risk of burning!
Wear suitable protective clothing and protective glasses when soldering. Liquid
solders, spatters, etc. may cause serious burns or harm your eyes!
Do not leave the product out of sight when it is hot. This also applies for the dura-
tion of the heating and cooling process.
Keep your workstation clean. Untidiness at the workplace increases the risk of
accidents.
Only work with sufcient lighting at your workstation.
Ensure proper ventilation during soldering. Solder or solder ux can be harmful.
Wash your hands thoroughly after working with solder containing soldering tin.
This is especially true when using solder based on lead.
Do not put soldering alloys into your mouth, do not eat or drink during soldering.
Soldering must be done on non-combustible surfaces. Protect other materials
nearby from damage through heat.
The power cable of the soldering iron is not heat resistant. Therefore, maintain a
sufcient safety distance.
Always rest the soldering iron on the holder included when you are not using it
(e.g. during a work break or during heating/cooling). When doing so, make sure
that the holder and the soldering iron are placed securely and cannot topple or roll
away.
If the power cord is damaged, do not touch it; electric shock carries a risk of dan-
ger to life!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the product is connected
(switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse or switch
off at the corresponding RCD protective switch, so that the socket is fully discon-
nected).
Then you can remove the mains plug from the mains socket. Discontinue use of
the product, take it to a specialised workshop or dispose of in an environmentally
friendly manner.
Any maintenance or repair work must be carried out by a technician.
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room into
a warm one. The condensation that forms can ruin the product under certain cir-
cumstances. Furthermore, this could cause a lethal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it to use. In some cases, this may take several hours.
Prevent the following adverse conditions at the location of installation and during
transport:
- dust or ammable gases, fumes or solvents
- strong vibrations, impacts, or blows
- strong magnetic elds such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loud-
speakers
Disconnect the power supply from the power socket, switch the product off and
pull the power plug out of the mains socket, if the product will not be used for a
while (e.g. storage).
When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor
pinched.

Intended use
The soldering iron is used for performing soldering works on larger workpieces (e.g. to solder
together copper gutters) in connection with different soft solders (lead/silver solder). The sol-
dering tip can be replaced.
The soldering iron may only be used on mains voltage (230 V/AC, 50 Hz).
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating
instructions!
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves
the risk of short circuits, re, electric shock, etc. No part of the product may be modied or
