g) Indirect Measurement
Use of the Pythagorean Theorem (a² + =
c²) permits, e.g., indirect determination of the
height of an object when there is no end point
for the laser to perform the measurement
(e.g. the upper end of a shelf).
Observe that the measurement b is
performed at a right angle to the desired
height „c“.
Proceed as follows:
1. Keep the middle function button (C) pushed until a triangle appears at the top of the
display (indirect measurement). Release the button again.
2. Push the measuring button „ “ (B) briey to measure the rst side length (a). The measu-
red value is shown in the middle line (3). Then the lower dash of the triangle ashes in the
display.
3. Push the measuring button „ “ (B) briey to measure the second side length (b).
After the measurement, the middle line (3) shows the measured value of the second side
length, and the calculated height in m appears in the lower display line (4) (the right dash of
the triangle now ashes at the top of the display).
4. If another measurement is to be performed, briey push the measuring button „ (B). The
data are deleted from the display. Now continue with step 2.
Pushing the power button “ (D) several times will take you back to the previous
step or leave indirect measurement.
