9. Operating tips
a) Drilling
To prevent cracking of drill holes (e.g. while drilling tiles) start to drill with low rotation speed and then increase it.
By using a slow starting speed, you are able to keep the bit from “wandering”. Increase the speed as the bit
“engages” into the workpiece.
Always hold the product perpendicularly to the point to be drilled. Holding it at an angle may cause slipping or
jamming of the bit.
Drilling in metal:
The harder the material, the greater the pressure you need to apply to the tool.
Do not force or apply side pressure to elongate a hole.
Punch a hole with a bit rst to prevent the bit from slipping.
For harder materials, use slower speeds.
Lubricate the tip of the bit occasionally with cutting oil.
If the hole to be drilled is fairly large, drill a smaller hole rst, then enlarge to the required size. Maintain enough
pressure to ensure that the bit does not spin in the hole.
Maintain speed and pressure to avoid overheating of the bit.
Drilling in wood:
Always hold the product perpendicularly to the point to be drilled. Holding it at an angle may cause slipping or
jamming of the bit.
Begin drilling at a low speed to prevent the bit from slipping.
Maintain enough pressure to keep the drill “engaging”.
When drilling through holes, place a block of wood behind the workpiece to prevent ragged or splintered edges on
the back side of the hole.
