Establishing an Infrared Connection
1. Make sure that your infrared port is set to the same protocol as the
target infrared device. You can change the infrared port in the
setup utility (see chapter 3).
2. Place your notebook so that the infrared port is directly facing the
infrared port of the target device. If the angle between the ports
exceeds about 15 degrees in any direction, you might fail to
establish communication. The infrared ports should be no more
than 1 meter (38 inches) apart. If the separation is greater than 1
meter, you might fail to establish communication.
3. If you have utility software that supports infrared communication,
such as TranXit or IntelliSync, use the software to make the
infrared link, and follow the instructions of the software.
4. If you don’t have infrared software, use the infrared software
included with the Windows operating system, as described below.
Using Infrared with Windows
You can use the Windows 95 operating system to operate your infrared
port as follows.
If you have not already set up your system for a Direct Cable
Connection or for file sharing, you will need to do this first.
