andmakesurethatitisseatedintheinside

Important:AnO–ringthatisdamagedor
installedincorrectlywillallowoiltoleakout
ofthegearcase.Ifenoughoilleaksout,
mechanicaldamagewilllikelyresult.
4.Ifpneumaticwheelsareinstalled,setthetire
pressureat241.3Kpa(35psi).

CheckingtheFasteners
andReelBearings
1.Rotatethecenteradjustingknobuntilthe
bedknifedoesnotcontactthereel.Trytospin
thereel.Ifthereeldoesnotspin,adjustthereel
bearings;refertoAdjustingtheReelBearingin
theMaintenanceSection.Ifthereelspinsfreely,
proceedtothenextstep.
2.Trytomovethereelbackandforth.Ifthereel
canbemoved,adjustthereelbearings;referto
AdjustingtheReelBearings(page11).
3.Checkandtightenallnuts,bolts,andscrewsto
ensurethatallpartsaresecure.
AdjustingtheReelBearings
Ifendplayisevidentinthereelorifthecuttingunit
hasbeendisassembled,anadjustmenttothereel
bearingmaybenecessary.
1.Removethe4screwssecuringtheleftwheelto
thewheelhubandremovethewheel.Placethe
wheelunderthegearcaseforsupport.
2.Raiseandblockthebackofthecuttingunit
untilthereis0.178to0.203m(7to8inches)
betweenthebottomofthegearcaseextending
behindtherollerbracketandthelevelsurface.
3.Removethe3capscrewssecuringthe
inspectioncovertothegearcasecover.
4.Insmallincrements,rotatetheadjustingnut
onthereelshaft,intheclockwisedirectionto
removeallendplayfromthereel.
Note:Stopthereelfromrotating.
5.Whentheendplayisremoved,rotatethenutan
additional1/4turntopreloadthebearing.
6.Installtheinspectioncoverandthewheel.

Newandoldbedknivesshouldbegroundattached
tothebedbar;thisensuresrigidityduringgrinding
andensuresatrueknife.RefertoFigure15when
grindingtheknivesandobtainasnearaspossiblethe
reliefanglesindicated.Ingrinding,avoidhardcontact
betweentheknifeandthegrindingwheel.Hard
contactcausesexcessiveheatbuildup,resultingin
prematurewearingofthegrindingwheelandreduced
lifeoftheknife.
