AdjustingtheReel,Roller,
andWheelBearing
Aftertheinitial30operatinghours,checkthereel
bearing,rollerbearing,andwheelbearing.Thereafter,
checkthesepartsevery200to250operatinghours.
Ifnecessary,adjustthereelbearing.Ifnecessary,
adjusttherollerbearing.Ifnecessary,adjustthe
wheelbearing.
ServicingtheRoller
DisassemblingtheRoller
1.Removethebracketsandwashersfromeach
endoftherollerandinspectthebushings.
2.Removeelasticstopnut.
Note:Aftertheelasticstopnuthasbeen
removed,slidethesleeveofftherollershaft.
Pointtheendofrollerdownwardintoacontainer,
atthesametimepullingtherollershaftout,
allowinglubricanttodrainfromtheroller.
3.Iftherollershaftistobereplaced,removethe
doublejamnuts.
4.Removetheremainingsleeveandsealsfrom
bothendsoftheroller.
5.Removethebearingconesfromeachendofthe
roller.
6.Removethebearingcupswithcaution.
7.Removetheinnersealsbyusingasealremover.
AssemblingtheRoller
1.Lightlyoilthelipsoftheinnerseals.Installthe
innersealsoneachendoftheroller,making
surethatthegarterspringsfaceinboard.
2.Replacethebearingcupsandinsertthebearing
conesintotheroller.
3.Lightlyoilthelipsoftheouterseals.Installthe
outersealsoneachendoftheroller,making
surethatthegarterspringsfaceinboard.
4.Slide1sleeveontotherollershaftagainstthe
doublejamnuts.
5.Wrapthethreadedareaoftherollershaft
withcellophanetapetoprotecttheseals,and
carefullyslidetheshaftthroughtherightside
oftheroller.Slidetherollershaftintotheroller
untilitpenetratestheinnermostoilsealonthe
rightside.
6.Pourapproximately0.5L(16oz)ofSAE90or
140gearoilintotherollerhousing.
7.Aftertheoilhasbeenadded,carefullypushthe
rollershaftthroughtheentirerollerassembly.
Removethecellophanetape.
8.Installthesleeveontotherollershaftandslide
upagainstthebearingcone.
9.Installtheelasticstopnutandsecureitby
holdingthedoublejamnuts.Tightentheelastic
stopnut.
Note:Tightentheelasticstopnutuntilallaxial
andradialmotionhasbeenremovedfromthe
rollershaftandbearings.Ensurethattheroller
rotatesfreelyontheshaft.
10.GreasethebearingswithheavydutyNo.2
wheelbearinggrease.
11.Installthewashersandinstalltheleftandright
bracketandthebushingassemblies.
Important:Afterthecuttingunithasbeen
completelyassembled,performthefollowing
criticaladjustments:
A.Checkthereelbearingsandthefasteners.
B.Settheheightofcut.
C.Adjustthebedknifetothereel.
