contrast,buzzing,clicking,ormetallicsoundsduring
operationindicatethatthemowerisprobablybeing
operatedwithheavycontactbetweenthebedknife
andthereel.Heavycontactcausesunevenorwavy
wearonthebedknifeandreelcuttingedges.Grinding
isrequiredtorepairadamagedbedknifeandreel.
Althoughthebedknifeandreelareadjustedcorrectly
forlightcontact,notcheswilleventuallydevelopat
bothendsofthebedknife.Thesenotchesmustbe
roundedofforledushwithcuttingedgeofbedknife
toassuresmoothoperation.
3.LooseReelBearings–Ifreelbearingsaresuspected
tobeloose,checkthemimmediatelyorextensive
damagemayresult;refertoReelBearingAdjustment.
4.HittingaForeignObject–Thebedknifeandthe
reelcuttingedgescanbedamagedifaforeignobject
ishit.Thedamage,ifitisnottoosevere,canbe
repairedintheeld.Startbylingdownhighspotson
thebedknifeandthereel(Figure11).Useaballpeen
hammertostraightenanyreelbladesthatmaybebent.
Sincethebedknifeusuallyspringsawayfromthereel
uponimpact,thebedknifemustbeadjusted;referto
ParalleltheBedknifetotheReel.
