AdjustingtheBedknifetothe
ReelforLightContact
Important:Afterthemowerissetupandinstalledon
thetowingframe,thebedknifeandreelmustbeadjusted
forlightcontact.Adjustthebedknifetothereelwhile
themowerissettingonthegrasstobecutbecausethe
forceofturfagainstundersideofbedknifeduringactual
operationmustbeduplicatedtoensurecorrectsetting.
Toassuresharpcuttingedges,thebedknifeandreel
musthavelightcontact.
1.Standbehindthemower
2.Disengagethereelthrowoutknobs(Figure8).Carefully
spinthereelbackwardtoinsurefreemovement
3.Whilespinningthereelbackward,rotatethebedknife
adjustingknobcounterclockwise(Figure8)untilthe
bedknifedoesnottouchthereelblades.

knobclockwise(Figure8),oneclickatatime,until
lightcontactofthebedknifeandthereelisnoticedora
whisperingcuttingsoundisheard.
Note:Thespringarm(clicker)maybeadjustedfor
positivedetentbylooseningthecapscrewssecuringthe
springarmtotheadjustmentarmretainer,adjustuntil
asolidclickingsoundisachievedwhentheadjusting
knobisturned,andretightenthecapscrews.
5.Checkthereel“carryover”byspinningthereel
backwardagain.Thereelshouldrotateonetotwo
completerevolutions.Lessthanonerevolution
indicatesheavycontact,whichmeansthebedknifeand
reelmustbereadjustedforlightcontact;refertosteps
1,3and4.
