GreasingtheCuttingUnit
Eachcuttingunithas4greasettings(Figure11)that
mustbelubricatedevery8hoursofoperationwith
heavydutyNo.2wheelbearinggrease.

Note:Donotusehighpressurehosetoclean
areaswheretherearesealsorbearingsbecause
foreignmatterwilllikelybeforcedintothe
bearing.Theresultwillberapidsealandbearing
deterioration.Lubricatingthecuttingunit
immediatelyafterwashinghelpspurgewaterout
ofbearingsandincreasesbearinglife.
1.Wipeeachgreasettingwithacleanrag.
2.Applythegrease.Whenyoufeelpressurewhile
greasingtheroller,thebearingcavitybetween
thesealsisfull.
Important:Donotcontinuetogrease
becausetheinnerbearingsealmayget
damaged.
3.Wipeawayanyexcessgrease.
CheckingtheGearCaseOil
1.Positionthecuttingunitonalevelsurface.
2.Raiseandblockthebackofthecuttingunituntil
thereisapproximately26cm(10-1/4inches)
betweenthebottomofthegearcaseextending
behindtherollerbracketandthelevelsurface
(Figure12).

2.Fillerplug
3.Removethellerplugfrominsideofeachgear
case(Figure12).Checktheoillevelinthegear
case;itshouldbelevelwiththebottomofthe
llerhole.Iftheoilislevelwithbottomofthe
hole,installthellerplug.
Important:Checkforoilleakscausedby
awornorimproperlyinstalledO–ringor
gasket,andlooseside-platebolts.Makeall
repairsbeforeaddingoiltothegearcases.
4.Iftheoillevelislow,llthegearcasewith
80W-90gearlubricanttothepointofoverowing
andtheninstallthellerplug.
Important:Donotoverllthegearcase.
ChangingtheGearCase
Lubricant
ServiceInterval:Yearly
Thegearcaseshavebeenfullylubricatedatthe
factory.Onceeachseason,drainandcleantheright
andleftgearcases.Whenthegearcasesareclean,
add80W-90gearlubricant;refertoCheckingthe
GearCaseOil(page10).
CheckingtheWheelHubs
1.Removethewheels.
2.Rotatethewheelhub(Figure13)tocheckthe
bearingadjustment.Youshouldfeelaslightdrag
whenyourotatethehub.Ifdragisnotevident,
tightenthewheelhubnut(Figure13)untilyou
feelaslightdragwhenyourotatethehub.
