handle,boththeengineandbladeshouldstop
within3seconds.Iftheydonotstopproperly,
stopusingyourmachineimmediatelyandcontact

Hauling
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachine
intoatraileroratruck.
•Tiethemachinedownsecurelyusingstraps,
chains,cable,orropes.Boththefrontandtherear
strapsshouldbedirecteddownandoutwardfrom
themachine.

GeneralMowingTips
WARNING
Operatingtheengineonaslopegreaterthan
45°willseverelydamagetheenginebecause
ofalackoflubrication.Potentialdamage
includesstuckvalves,scoredpistons,or
burnedcrankbearings.
•Beforeoperatingthemachineonaslope,
completeasitesurveytomeasurethe
slopewhereyouwilloperatethemachine.
•Donotoperatethe4-cycleHondaengine
onthismachineonslopesgreaterthan45°.
•Cleartheareaofsticks,stones,wire,branches,
andotherdebristhatthebladecouldhit.
•Avoidstrikingsolidobjectswiththeblade.Never
deliberatelymowoveranyobject.
•Ifthemachinestrikesanobjectorstartstovibrate,
immediatelystoptheengine,disconnectthewire
fromthesparkplug,andexaminethemachinefor
damage.
•Forbestperformance,installanewbladebefore
thecuttingseasonbegins.
•ReplacethebladewhennecessarywithaToro
replacementblade.
CuttingGrass
•Cutonlyaboutathirdofthegrassbladeata
time.Donotcutbelowthe32mm(1–1/4inch)
settingunlessthegrassissparseoritislatefall
whengrassgrowthbeginstoslowdown.Referto
AdjustingtheCuttingHeight.
•Mowinggrassover15cm(6inches)inlengthis
notrecommended.Ifthegrassistoolong,the
machinemayplugandcausetheenginetostall.
•Mowonlydrygrassorleaves.Wetgrassand
leavestendtoclumpontheyardandcancause
themachinetoplugortheenginetostall.
WARNING
Wetgrassorleavescancauseserious
injuryifyouslipandcontacttheblade.
Mowonlyindryconditions.
•Alternatethemowingdirection.Thishelps
dispersetheclippingsoverthelawnforeven
fertilization.
