Ensurethatallapsareundamagedandfreeto
rotate;replaceanyandalldamagedaps.
ClearingaBlockedRotor
WARNING
Residualpowerintheailrotorsystemcould
causeinjurythroughsuddenmovementofthe
ailrotor(s)whentheblockageisreleased.
Neverattempttorotateorclearblockage
fromtheailrotorsbyhand.
Alwayswearprotectiveglovesandusea
woodenpole.
Ensurethatthewoodenpoletsinthe
ailrotorandislongenoughtoprovide
sufcientleveragetoreleasetheblockage.
1.SetthePTOswitchtotheOFFposition.
2.Parkthemachineonlevelground,setthethrottle
controltotheslowengine-speedposition,and
engagetheparkingbrake.
3.Raisethecuttingunitasnecessarytoaccess
theblockage.
4.Shutofftheengine,removetheignitionkey,and
waitforallmovingpartstostop.
5.Supporttheraisedcuttingunitwithjackstands.
6.Useawoodenpoletocarefullyremovethe
blockage.
Important:Theailrotormayrotatewhen
youreleasetheblockage.
Important:Avoidusingexcessiveforce
whenyouremovetheblockage.
7.Removethewoodenpolefromthecuttingunit
beforeyoustarttheengine.
8.Repairoradjustthecuttingunitifnecessary.
CheckingtheCasterTire
Pressure
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
Ensurethatthecastertiresarelledto2to3.5bar
(30to50psi).
CheckingforRotor
Vibration
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkfor
anyunusualvibrationoftherotor.
Tocheckforanyunusualvibrationoftherotor,runthe
cuttingunitatfull-enginespeed.
1.Starttheengineandmovethemachinetoa
level,openareaawayfrombystanders.
2.Lowerthecuttingunitandengagetheparking
brake.
3.EngagethePTOandruntheengineatfull
throttlewhilewatchingforanyunusualrotor
vibration.
4.Iftherotorvibrationisunusual,performthe
following:
A.Setthethrottletoidle,shutoffthePTO,and
raisethecuttingunit.
B.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,and
waitforallmovingpartstostop.
C.Checkthecuttingunitforthefollowing:
Debrispreventingtherotororblades
operatingcorrectlyandremoveany
blockages;refertoClearingaBlocked
Rotor(page24).
Adamagedrotororwornrotorbearings;
refertoCheckingtheRotorBearings
(page25).
Missing,damaged,unbalanced,or
excessivelywornblades;referto
SharpeningtheBlades(page25)and
ReplacingtheBlades(page26).
Important:Allopposingbladepairs
musthaveasimilaramountofwear;
unbalancedbladesmayaffectthe
balanceoftherotor.
Important:Ifyoucannotcorrectthecause
ofunusualrotorvibration,contactyour
authorizedTorodistributor.
