themowingarea,liftthecuttingunits,andperform
ateardropshapedturntoquicklylineyouupfor
yournextpass.
•Thecuttingunitstendtothrowgrasstothefront
ortherearofthemachine.Frontthrowshouldbe
usedwhencuttingsmalleramountsofgrass;thus,
leavingabetterafter-cutappearance.T othrow
clippingstothefront,simplyclosetherearshield
onthecuttingunits.
CAUTION
Topreventpersonalinjuryordamagetothe
machine,donotopenorclosethecuttingunit
shieldswhiletheengineisrunning.
Shutofftheengineandwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeopeningorclosingthe
cuttingunitshields.
•Whencuttinglargeramountsofgrass,position
theshieldstojustbelowhorizontal.Donotopen
theshieldstoofaroranexcessiveamountof
clippingscouldbuildupontheframe,rear
radiatorscreen,andenginearea.
•Thecuttingunitsarealsoequippedwithbalance
weightsonthenon-motorendtogiveanevencut.
Youcanaddorremoveweightsifamismatch
occursonyourturf.
AfterOperation
GeneralSafety
•Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
•Disengageandlowerthecuttingunits.
•Engagetheparkingbrake.
•Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
•Waitforallmovementtostop.
•Allowthemachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,
servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromthecuttingunits,
drives,mufers,coolingscreens,andengine
compartmenttohelppreventres.Cleanupoilor
fuelspills.
•Disengagethedrivetotheattachmentwhenever
youarehaulingornotusingthemachine.
•Maintainandcleantheseatbelt(s)asnecessary.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheateroronotherappliances.

theMachine(page61)andGreasingtheBearings
andBushings(page44).
TowingtheMachine
Incaseofanemergency,youcantowthemachinefor
ashortdistance;however,Torodoesnotrecommend
thisasastandardprocedure.
Important:Donottowthemachinefasterthan
3to4km/h(2to3mph)becauseitmaydamage
thedrivesystem.Ifyoumustmovethemachine
aconsiderabledistance,transportitonatruck
ortrailer.
