CheckingtheSealed
Bearings
Bearingsrarelyfailfromdefectsinmaterialsor
workmanship.Themostcommonreasonforfailureis
moistureandcontaminationworkingitswaypastthe
protectiveseals.Bearingsthataregreasedrelyupon
regularmaintenancetopurgeharmfuldebrisfromthe
bearingarea.Sealedbearingsrelyonaninitialll
ofspecialgreaseandarobustintegralsealtokeep
contaminantsandmoistureoutoftherollingelements.
Thesealedbearingsrequirenolubricationor
short-termmaintenance.Thisminimizesroutine
servicerequiredandreducesthepotentialofturf
damageduetogreasecontamination.Thesesealed
bearingpackageswillprovidegoodperformanceand
lifeundernormaluse,butyoushouldperiodically
inspectthebearingconditionandsealintegrityto
avoiddowntime.Inspectthebearingsseasonally
andreplacethethemiftheyaredamagedorworn.
Bearingsshouldoperatesmoothlywithnodetrimental
characteristicssuchashighheat,noise,looseness,
orindicationsofcorrosion(rust).
Duetotheoperatingconditionsthesebearing/seal
packagesaresubjectto(i.e.,sand,turfchemicals,
water,impacts,etc.)theyareconsiderednormalwear
items.Bearingsthatfailduetocausesotherthan
defectsinmaterialsorworkmanshiparetypicallynot
coveredunderthewarranty.
Note:Bearinglifecanbenegativelyaffectedby
improperwash-downprocedures.Donotwashdown
themachinewhenitisstillhotandavoiddirecting
high-pressureorhigh-volumesprayatthebearings.
