LubricatingtheCuttingUnit
Eachcuttingunithas6greasettings(Figure22)thatmust
belubricatedregularlywithNo.2lithiumgrease.
Thelubricationpointsarethefrontroller(2),therearroller
(2),andthereelbearing(2).
Note:Lubricatingthecuttingunitsimmediatelyafter
washinghelpspurgewateroutofthebearingsand
increasesbearinglife.
1.Wipeeachgreasettingwithacleanrag.
2.Applygreaseuntilcleangreasecomesoutoftheroller
sealsandthebearingreliefvalve.
3.Wipeexcessgreaseaway.

AdjustingtheReelBearings
Toensurelonglifeofthereelbearings,periodicallycheckif
reelendplayexists.Thereelbearingscanbecheckedand
adjustedasfollows:
1.Loosenthereel-to-bedknifecontactbyturningthe
bedknife-adjustingknobs(Figure23)counterclockwise
untilnocontactexists.

bearing-adjustingnuttothebearinghousing
locatedontheleftsideofthecutting(Figure25).

B.Usinga1-3/8inchsocketwrench,slowlytighten
thereelbearingadjustmentnutuntilnoendplay
ofthereelexists.Ifadjustingthenutdoesnot
eliminatereelendplay,replacethereelbearings.
Note:Thereelbearingsdonotrequirepreload.
Overtighteningthereel-bearingadjusternutwill
damagethereelbearings.
4.Tightenthesetscrewtosecurethebearing-adjusting
nuttothebearinghousing.
Note:Torquethenutto1.4to1.7N∙m(12to15
in-lb).
