Subject: Cutting Unit Roll Pin can break or shear.
A Roll Pin limits cutting Unit travel. During transport, bouncing cutting units expose this
pin to repeated impacts that may break or weaken this pin. If a weakened pin breaks
while mowing, damage to the Cutting Unit is possible. Refer to Customer Bulletin:
Cutting Unit Roll Pin Shearing for additional information on this subject. As a result of
ongoing field testing and product improvement, the Roll Pin will be replaced by Grooved
Pin (104-9319) for this application.
Grooved Pin (104-9319) can be used in place of the Roll Pin on any 5000 series
machines. No additional part or changes are necessary.
The Grooved Pin is hardened but may bend or break if the cutting unit comes in contact
with a heavy or immovable object. Bent or damaged pins should be immediately
replaced to avoid damage to the cutting unit should they break while mowing.
