Subject: Oil from the differential can transfer to the hydraulic system on some
units.
There have been instances where the differential oil is low at the same time the
hydraulic system is overfilled. Investigation has revealed that in some instances oil has
transferred from the differential to the main hydraulic system. The exact circumstances
allowing this to happen to a very small percentage of units are unclear, but it is known
that the transfer happens past the seal of the sectional pump.
Should you find that oil in the differential is low and the hydraulic system is overfilled,
add or remove oil to correct the fluid levels. Run the machine for a 50-hour period and
recheck the levels. If the level in the differential is again low while the hydraulic level
increases, replace the sectional pump seal using Seal Kit (104-0576). The seal in this
kit will be installed with a backup washer behind it and the lip facing out. Refer to figure
below for more information regarding seal orientation.
Contact your local Toro Distributor for assistance with seal replacement.
