4.Pressthetractionpedal.
5.RotatethekeytotheSTARTposition.
Note:Thestartershouldnotcranktheenginewith
thetractionpedalpressed.

Note:Theengineshouldshutoffwhentheparking
brakeisengagedandthetractionpedalispressed.

DuringOperationSafety
GeneralSafety
•Theowner/operatorcanpreventandisresponsiblefor
accidentsthatmaycausepersonalinjuryorproperty
damage.
•Wearappropriateclothing,includingeyeprotection;
longtrousers;substantial,slip-resistantfootwear;and
hearingprotection.Tiebacklonghairanddonotwear
looseclothingorloosejewelry.
•Donotoperatethemachinewhileill,tired,orunderthe
inuenceofalcoholordrugs.
•Useyourfullattentionwhileoperatingthemachine.
Donotengageinanyactivitythatcausesdistractions;
otherwise,injuryorpropertydamagemayoccur.
•Beforeyoustarttheengine,ensurethatalldrivesare
inneutral,theparkingbrakeisengaged,andyouare
intheoperatingposition.
•Donotcarrypassengersonthemachineandkeep
bystandersandchildrenoutoftheoperatingarea.
•Operatethemachineonlyingoodvisibilitytoavoid
holesorhiddenhazards.
•Avoidmowingonwetgrass.Reducedtractioncould
causethemachinetoslide.
•Keepyourhandsandfeetawayfromthecuttingunits.
•Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptobesure
ofaclearpath.
•Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,
trees,orotherobjectsthatmayobscureyourvision.
•Stopthecuttingunitswheneveryouarenotmowing.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturnsand
crossingroadsandsidewalkswiththemachine.Always
yieldtheright-of-way.
•Operatetheengineonlyinwell-ventilatedareas.
Exhaustgasescontaincarbonmonoxide,whichis
lethalifinhaled.
•Donotleavearunningmachineunattended.
•Beforeyouleavetheoperator’sposition,dothe
following:
–Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
–Disengageandlowerthecuttingunits.
–Engagetheparkingbrake.
–Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
–Waitforallmovementtostop.
–Allowthemachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,
servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
•Operatethemachineonlyingoodvisibilityand
appropriateweatherconditions.Donotoperatethe
machinewhenthereistheriskoflightning.
RolloverProtectionSystem(ROPS)Safety
•DonotremoveanyoftheROPScomponentsfromthe
machine.
