1.MoveallcontrolstoNEUTRAL,engagetheparking
brake,movetheengine-speedswitchtothelowidle
positionandallowtheenginetoreachlowidlespeed.
2.TurnthekeytotheOFFpositionandremoveitfrom
theswitch.
CuttingGrasswiththeMachine
Note:Cuttinggrassataratethatloadstheengine
promotesDPFregeneration.
1.Movethemachinetothejobsiteandalignthe
machineoutsidethecuttingareafortherstcutting
pass.
2.EnsurethatthePTOswitchissettotheDISABLE
position.
3.Movetheleverforthemow-speedlimiterforward.
4.Pressthethrottle-speedswitchtosettheengine
speedtoHIGHIDLE.
5.Usethejoysticktolowerthecuttingunitstothe
ground.
6.PressthePTOswitchtopreparecuttingunitsfor
operation.
7.Usethejoysticktoraisethecuttingunitsoffthe
ground.
8.Beginmovingthemachinetowardthecuttingarea
andlowerthecuttingunits.
Note:Cuttinggrassataratethatloadstheengine
promotesDPFregeneration.
9.Whenyoucompletethemowingpass,usethejoystick
toliftthecuttingunits.
10.Performatear-shapedturntoquicklylineupforyour
nextpass.
AdjustingtheTurf-Compensation
Spring
Theturf-compensationspring(Figure51)transfersthe
weightfromthefrontrollertotherearroller.Thishelpsto
reduceawavepatternintheturf,alsoknownasmarcelling
orbobbing.
Important:Makespringadjustmentswiththecutting
unitmountedtothetractionunit,pointingstraight
ahead,andloweredtotheshopoor.
1.Makesurethatthehairpinisinstalledintherearhole
inthespringrod(Figure51).
Note:Whenservicingthecuttingunit,move
thehairpintothespring-rodholenexttothe
turf-compensationspring.

AdjustingtheLift-ArmCounterbalance
RearCuttingUnits
CAUTION
Thespringsareundertensionandcouldcause
personalinjury.
Usecautionwhenadjustingthesprings.
Youcanadjusttheamountofcounterbalanceforceapplied
totherearcutting-unitstohelpcompensatefordifferentturf
conditions,andtomaintainauniformheightofcutinrough
conditionsorinareasofthatchbuildup.
Youadjustcounterbalanceforceofeachtorsionspringto1
of4settings.Eachincrementincreasesordecreasesthe
counterbalanceforceonthecuttingunitby2.3kg(5lb).You
canpositionthespringsatthebacksideoftherstspring
actuatortoremoveallcounterbalance(fourthposition).
Note:Toremoveallcounterbalanceforce,positionthe
longlegofthetorsionspringabovetheshoulderedstud.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecutting
units,shutofftheengine,engagetheparkingbrake,
andremovethekey.
2.Insertthelongendofthecounterbalancespringintoa
tubeorsimilarobject,andpivotthespringaroundthe
shoulderedstudtothedesiredposition(Figure52).
