thoroughlyinspectingitperiodicallyfordamageand
keepingallthemountingfastenerstight.
ReplacealldamagedROPScomponents.Donotrepair
oralterthem.
SlopeSafety
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtolossofcontroland
rolloveraccidents,whichcanresultinsevereinjuryor
death.Youareresponsibleforsafeslopeoperation.
Operatingthemachineonanysloperequiresextra
caution.
Evaluatethesiteconditionstodetermineiftheslope
issafeformachineoperation,includingsurveyingthe
site.Alwaysusecommonsenseandgoodjudgment
whenperformingthissurvey.
Reviewtheslopeinstructions,listedbelow,for
operatingthemachineonslopes.Beforeyouoperate
themachine,reviewthesiteconditionstodetermine
whetheryoucanoperatethemachineintheconditions
onthatdayandatthatsite.Changesintheterraincan
resultinachangeinslopeoperationforthemachine.
Avoidstarting,stopping,orturningthemachineon
slopes.Avoidmakingsuddenchangesinspeedor
direction.Maketurnsslowlyandgradually.
Donotoperateamachineunderanyconditions
wheretraction,steering,orstabilityisinquestion.
Removeormarkobstructionssuchasditches,
holes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orotherhiddenhazards.
Tallgrasscanhideobstructions.Uneventerrain
couldoverturnthemachine.
Beawarethatoperatingthemachineonwetgrass,
acrossslopes,ordownhillmaycausethemachine
tolosetraction.
Useextremecautionwhenoperatingthemachine
neardrop-offs,ditches,embankments,water
hazards,orotherhazards.Themachinecould
suddenlyrolloverifawheelgoesovertheedgeor
theedgecavesin.Establishasafetyareabetween
themachineandanyhazard.
Identifyhazardsatthebaseoftheslope.Ifthereare
hazards,mowtheslopewithapedestrian-controlled
machine.
Ifpossible,keepthecuttingunitsloweredtothe
groundwhileoperatingonslopes.Raisingthe
cuttingunitswhileoperatingonslopescancause
themachinetobecomeunstable.
StartingtheEngine
Important:Thefuelsystemautomaticallybleeds
itselfwhenanyofthefollowingsituationsoccur:
Youarestartinganewmachineforthersttime.
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponthefuelsystem
components.
1.Sitontheseat,keepyourfootoffthetractionpedal
sothatitisinNEUTRAL,engagetheparkingbrake,
settheengine-speedswitchtotheMIDDLEposition,
andensurethattheEnable/Disableswitchisinthe
DISABLEposition.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandmake
surethatthepedalisintheNEUTRALposition.
3.TurnthekeytotheRUNposition.
4.Whentheglowindicatordims,turnthekeytothe
STARTposition.Releasethekeyimmediatelywhen
theenginestartsandallowittoreturntotheRUN
position.Allowtheenginetowarmup(withoutload),
thenmovethethrottlecontroltothedesiredposition.
HydraulicFilter-RestrictionIndicator
Thehydraulicsystemisequippedwithahydraulic
lter-restrictionindicator(Figure50).Withtheengine
runningatoperatingtemperature,viewtheindicator;it
shouldbeinthegreenzone.Whentheindicatorisinthe
redzone,changethehydrauliclters.
