ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Inspectthehydrauliclinesandhosesdailyfor
leaks,kinkedlines,loosemountingsupports,wear,
loosettings,weatherdeterioration,andchemical
deterioration.Makeallnecessaryrepairsbefore
operating.
WARNING
Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan
penetrateskinandcauseinjury.
Makesureallhydraulicuidhosesandlinesare
ingoodconditionandallhydraulicconnections
andttingsaretightbeforeapplyingpressureto
thehydraulicsystem.
Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompin
holeleaksornozzlesthatejecthighpressure
hydraulicuid.
Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks.
Safelyrelieveallpressureinthehydraulicsystem
beforeperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system.
Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifuidis
injectedintoskin.
CuttingUnitMaintenance
BacklappingtheCuttingUnits
WARNING
Contactwiththereelsorothermovingpartscan
resultinpersonalinjury.
Keepngers,hands,andclothingawayfromthe
reelsorothermovingparts.
Neverattempttoturnthereelsbyhandorfoot
whiletheengineisrunning.
Note:Whenbacklapping,thefrontunitsalloperate
together,andtherearunitsoperatetogether.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,stoptheengine,engagetheparking
brake,andmovethePTOswitchtoOFFposition.
2.Unlockandraisethehoodtoexposethecontrols.
3.Makeinitialreeltobedknifeadjustmentsappropriate
forbacklappingonallcuttingunitswhichareto
bebacklapped;refertothecuttingunitOperator's
Manual.
4.Selecteitherfront,rearorbothbacklapleversto
determinewhichunitstobacklap(
Figure83).
5.Starttheengineandrunatlowidlespeed.
DANGER
Changingtheenginespeedwhilebacklapping
maycausethereelstostall.
Neverchangetheenginespeedwhile
backlapping.
Onlybacklapatlowidleenginespeed.
DANGER
Toavoidpersonalinjury,becertainthatyouare
clearofthecuttingunitsbeforeproceeding.
6.WiththeMowSpeedLimiterinthemowposition,
movethePTOswitchtotheONposition.Pressthe
LiftSwitchtostartthebacklappingoperationonthe
designatedreels.
7.Applylappingcompoundwithalonghandlebrush.
Neveruseashorthandledbrush.
