Dethatching Reel Cover Plate Interference

A hydraulic fitting on the Reel Motor contacts the Front Cover of the Dethatcher
Situation:
Important Information
During 2009 as part of our ongoing design improvements
, the hydraulic reel motors
used on the Reelmaster 4000 (RM 4000) were changed to a different design.
When RM 4000 Dethatching Reels are installed on units having these newer-style
reel motors, the Front Cover (100-9993) of the Dethatcher will be contacted by the
hydraulic fitting of the reel motor (Fig. 1).
Pre-2009 Reelmaster 4000 traction units that have a hydraulic motor replaced with
one of the newer design will experience this interference when Dethatcher units are
installed. Fig. 2 shows the difference between the two reel motor designs.
Correction:
A new Front Cover Assembly (117-8997) is now available. It accommodates the
newer reel motor style by providing additional clearance between the reel motor
fitting and the cover (Fig. 3).
If purchasing new-style replacement hydraulic motors, be aware that new Front
Covers will be needed for a Dethatcher connecting with the new motor.
Dethatcher Units manufactured after model year 2010 will have the new Front
Cover Assembly (117-8997) installed.

Replace the Front Cover Assembly (117-8997) as required if clearance issues are
apparent.
