CAUTION
Ifsafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damagedthemachinecouldoperateunexpectedly
causingpersonalinjury.
Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Themachinehasinterlockswitchesintheelectricalsystem.
Theseswitchesaredesignedtostoptheenginewhenoperator
getsoffoftheseatwhenthetractionpedalispressed.
However,theoperatormaygetoffoftheseatwhiletheengine
isrunningandthetractionpedalisinneutral.Althoughthe
enginewillcontinuetorunifthePTOswitchisdisengaged
andthetractionpedalisreleased,itisstronglyrecommended
thattheenginebestoppedbeforerisingfromtheseat.
Tochecktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches,perform
thefollowingprocedure:
1.Drivethemachineslowlytoalarge,relativelyopenarea.
2.Lowerthecuttingunits,stoptheengine,andapplythe
parkingbrake.
3.Sitontheseatandpressthetractionpedal.
4.Trytostarttheengine.
Note:Theengineshouldnotcrank.Iftheengine
cranks,thereisamalfunctionintheinterlocksystem
thatshouldbecorrectedbeforebeginningoperation.
5.Sitontheseatandstarttheengine.
6.RisefromtheseatandmovethePTOswitchtothe
ONposition.
Note:ThePTOshouldnotengage.IfthePTO
engages,thereisamalfunctionintheinterlocksystem
thatshouldbecorrectedbeforebeginningoperation.
7.Sitontheseat,engagetheparkingbrake,andstart
theengine.
8.MovethetractionpedaloutoftheNEUTRALposition.
Note:Theengineshouldstop.Iftheenginedoesnot
stop,thereisamalfunctionintheinterlocksystemthat
shouldbecorrectedbeforebeginningoperation.
AdjustingtheLift-Arm
Counterbalance
Youcanadjustthecounterbalanceontherearcutting-unit
liftarmstocompensatefordifferentturfconditionsandto
maintainauniformheightofcutinroughconditionsorin
areasofthatchbuildup.
Youcanadjusteachcounterbalancespringto1of4settings.
Eachincrementincreasesordecreasesthecounterbalance
onthecuttingunitby2.3kg(5lb).Thespringscanbe
positionedonthebacksideofthespringactuatortoremove
allcounterbalance(fourthposition).
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,stoptheengine,engagetheparking
brakes,andremovethekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.Insertatubeorsimilarobjectontothelongspring
endtorelievethespringtensionduringtheadjustment
(Figure40).
CAUTION
Thespringsareundertensionandcouldcause
personalinjury.
Usecautionwhenadjustingthesprings.
3.Whilerelievingthespringtension,removethebolt
andlocknutsecuringthespringactuatortothebracket
(Figure40).
