ServiceInterval:Every400hours
Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagewhichcouldcausean
airleak.Replaceitifitisdamaged.Checkthewholeintake
systemforleaks,damage,orloosehoseclamps.
Servicetheair-cleanerlteronlywhentheserviceindicator
(Figure52)requiresit.Changingtheairlterbeforeitis
necessaryonlyincreasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenthelterisremoved.

Important:Besurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectly
andsealswiththeaircleanerbody.
1.Pullthelatchoutwardandrotatetheair-cleanercover
counterclockwise(Figure53).

2.Removethecoverfromtheair-cleanerbody.
3.Beforeremovingthelter,uselow-pressureair—275
kPa(40psi),cleananddry—tohelpremovelarge
accumulationsofdebrispackedbetweenoutside
ofprimarylterandthecanister.Avoidusing
high-pressureair,whichcouldforcedirtthrough
thelterintotheintaketract.
Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebrisfrommigrating
intotheintakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
4.Removeandreplacetheprimarylter(Figure54).
Cleaningoftheusedelementisnotrecommendeddue
tothepossibilityofdamagetotheltermedia.Inspect
thenewlterforshippingdamage,checkingthesealing
endofthelterandthebody.Donotuseadamaged
element.
Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressuretotheouter
rimoftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.Donot
applypressuretotheexiblecenterofthelter.

thecavity,andinstalltheoutletvalve.
7.Installthecover,orientingtherubberoutletvalveina
downwardposition—betweenapproximately5o’clock
to7o’clockwhenviewedfromtheend.
8.Resettheindicator(Figure52)ifitshowsred.
