AdjustingtheServiceBrakes
Adjusttheservicebrakeswhenthereismorethan13mm
(1/2inch)offreetravelofthebrakepedal,orwhenthe
brakesdonotworkeffectively.Freetravelisthedistancethe
brakepedalmovesbeforebrakingresistanceisfelt.
1.Disengagethelockinglatchfromthebrakepedalsso
thatbothpedalsworkindependentlyofeachother.
2.Toreducefreetravelofthebrakepedals,tightenthe
brakesasfollows:
A.Loosenthefrontnutonthethreadedendofthe
brakecable(Figure76).

B.Tightentherearnuttomovethecablebackward
untilthebrakepedalshave0to13mm(0to
1/2inch)offreetravel.
Note:Makesurethatthereisnobraketension
whenthepedalisreleased.
C.Tightenthefrontnutsafterthebrakesareadjusted
correctly.

ServicingtheAlternatorBelt
ServiceInterval:Every100hours
Checktheconditionandtensionofthebelts(Figure77)after
every100operatinghours.
1.Propertensionwillallow10mm(3/8inch)deection
whenaforceof45N(10lb)isappliedonthebelt
midwaybetweenthepulleys.
2.Ifthedeectionisnot10mm(3/8inch),loosenthe
alternatormountingbolts(Figure77).
