CheckingtheHydraulicLines
andHoses
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Inspectthehydrauliclinesandhosesdailyforleaks,kinked
lines,loosemountingsupports,wear,loosettings,weather
deterioration,andchemicaldeterioration.Makeallnecessary
repairsbeforeoperating.
WARNING
Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan
penetrateskinandcauseinjury.
•Makesurethatallhydraulicuidhosesand
linesareingoodconditionandallhydraulic
connectionsandttingsaretightbefore
applyingpressuretothehydraulicsystem.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompinhole
leaksornozzlesthatejecthigh-pressure
hydraulicuid.
•Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulicleaks.
•Safelyrelieveallpressureinthehydraulicsystem
beforeperforminganyworkonthehydraulic
system.
•Seekimmediatemedicalattentionifuidis
injectedintoskin.
CuttingUnitMaintenance
BacklappingtheCuttingUnits
WARNING
Contactwiththereelsorothermovingpartscan
resultinpersonalinjury.
•Keepngers,hands,andclothingawayfromthe
reelsorothermovingparts.
•Neverattempttoturnthereelsbyhandorfoot
whiletheengineisrunning.
Note:Whenbacklapping,thefrontunitsalloperatetogether,
andtherearunitsoperatetogether.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,stoptheengine,engagetheparkingbrake,
andmovethePTOswitchtotheOFFposition.
2.Unlockandraisethehoodtoexposethecontrols.
3.Maketheinitialreel-to-bedknifeadjustments
appropriateforbacklappingonallcuttingunitswhich
aretobebacklapped;refertothecuttingunitOperator's
Manual.
4.Selecteitherfront,rear,orbothbacklapleversto
determinewhichunitstobacklap(Figure80).
5.Starttheengineandrunitatlowidlespeed.
DANGER
Changingtheenginespeedwhilebacklapping
maycausethereelstostall.
•Neverchangetheenginespeedwhile
backlapping.
•Onlybacklapatlowidleenginespeed.
DANGER
Contactwithamovingcuttingunitcould
causepersonalinjury.
Toavoidpersonalinjury,becertainthat
youareclearofthecuttingunitsbefore
proceeding.
6.Withthemow-speedlimiterinthemowposition,
movethePTOswitchtotheONposition.Pressthe
LiftSwitchtostartthebacklappingoperationonthe
designatedreels.
7.Applylappingcompoundwithalong-handledbrush.
Note:Neveruseashort-handledbrush.
