increasethethrottlespeeduntilthereelstabilizes.

backlapping,turnthereelsoffbypressingtherear
oftheliftswitch;movethePTOswitchtotheOFF
position,andshutofftheengine.Aftercompletingthe
adjustments,repeatsteps4through8.
10.Repeattheprocedureforallcuttingunitsthatyouwant
tobacklap.
11.Whennished,returnthebacklapleverstothe
Mowposition,lowerthehood,andwashalllapping
compoundoffofthecuttingunits.Adjustthecutting
unitreel-to-bedknifecontactasneeded.Movethe
cutting-unitreelspeedcontrolstothedesiredmowing
position.
Important:Ifthebacklapswitchisnotreturned
totheOffpositionafterbacklapping,thecutting
unitswillnotraiseorfunctionproperly.

Note:Forabettercuttingedge,runaleacross
thefrontfaceofthebedknifeafterlapping.Thiswill
removeanyburrsorroughedgesthatmayhavebuilt
uponthecuttingedge.
Storage
PreparingtheEngine
1.Draintheengineoilfromtheoilpanandinstallthe
drainplug.
2.Removeanddiscardtheoillter.Installanewoillter.
3.Filltheenginewithspeciedmotoroil.
4.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor
approximately2minutes.
5.Stoptheengine.
6.Flushthefueltankwithfresh,cleanfuel.
7.Secureallofthefuel-systemttings.
8.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheair-cleanerassembly.
9.Sealtheair-cleanerinletandtheexhaustoutletwith
weatherprooftape.
10.Checktheantifreezeprotectionandadda50/50
solutionofwaterandethyleneglycolantifreezeas
neededfortheexpectedminimumtemperatureinyour
area.
PreparingtheTractionUnit
1.Thoroughlycleanthetractionunit,cuttingunits,and
theengine.
2.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page33).
3.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenthemas
necessary.
4.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints.Wipe
upanyexcesslubricant.
5.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpaintedareas
thatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.Repairanydents
inthemetalbody.
6.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
B.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswithawire
brushandbaking-sodasolution.
C.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPartNo.
505-47)orpetroleumjellytopreventcorrosion.
D.Slowlychargethebatteryevery60daysfor24
hourstopreventleadsulfationofthebattery.
