Subject: Inconsistent or erratic Backlap speed.
A replacement Variable Speed (VS) Hydraulic Cartridge (95-3459) is now available to
provide greater control over the backlap function. If the issue persists after verification
of the following checkpoints, both original Variable Speed Cartridges should be
replaced with an improved version. The improved Cartridges provide a greater range of
internal movement for better control of hydraulic oil flow during backlapping. Contact
your local Toro distributor for further details.
Inspect these items first.
1. Proper adjustment of Reel-to-Bedknife (light contact required).
2. Engine at correct low (idle) RPM specification.
3. HOC Selector properly calibrated and set to desired backlap speed position.
4. Proper operation of the Reel Speed Sensors.
NOTE: An inoperative Reel Speed Sensor is a commonly found fault.
