Subject: Rear two Cutting Units (under-engine) Raise and Lower Too Fast.
Beginning with the 2000 model year product, the cutting unit hydraulic lift system was
changed from a series system to a parallel system. Since parallel systems split oil flow
and reduce the speed of lift and lower, the control orifice was removed from this circuit.
Because of these changes, some tractors may seem to raise the two rear “under-
engine” cutting units (#2 & #3) too fast and hit the tractor frame abruptly.
A screw-in, fixed (non-adjustable) Orifice (94-2626) can be installed into the rear
Manifold Block that will reduce the raise/lower rate of the 2 under-engine cutting units.
To install, turn on key and lower the cutting units to the ground. Remove the 2 hydraulic
hoses and Tee Fitting at the rear Manifold Block as shown in Figure 2. Install Orifice
(Fig. 3) using a 1/8” Hex wrench. Re-install the Tee Fitting and hoses.
Note: The Port is marked C3B on RM 6500, and C2B on RM6700 (Fig. 1).
