PushingorTowingthe
Machine
Inanemergency,themachinecanbemovedbyactuatingthe
bypassvalveinthevariabledisplacementhydraulicpumpand
pushingortowingthemachine.
Important:Donotpushortowthemachinefasterthan
3-4.8km/h(2-3mph)becauseinternaltransmission
damagemayoccur.Thebypassvalvemustbeopen
wheneverthemachineispushedortowed.
1.Thebypassvalveislocatedontopofvariable
displacementpump(Figure37).Rotatethevalve90°,
ineitherdirection,toopenandallowoiltobypass
internally.Becauseuidisbypassed,themachinecan
bemovedslowlywithoutdamagingthetransmission.

2.Closethebypassvalvebeforestartingtheengine.
However,donotexceed7-11N-m(5-8ft-lb)torqueto
closethevalve.
Important:Runningtheenginewiththebypass
valveopenwillcausethetransmissiontooverheat.
CheckingtheInterlock
Switches
CAUTION
Ifsafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damagedthemachinecouldoperateunexpectedly
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Thepurposeoftheinterlockswitchesaretopreventthe
enginefromcrankingorstartingunlessthetractionpedal
isinNeutral,theEnable/DisableswitchisinDisableand
theLowerMow/Raisecontrolisintheneutralposition.
Inaddition,theenginewillstopwhenthetractionpedalis
depressedwitheithertheoperatorofftheseatortheparking
brakeengaged.
Toverifyinterlockswitchfunction:
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingunits,
stoptheengineandengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Opencontrolpanelcover.Locatewireharnessand
loopbackconnector.Carefullyunplugloopback
connectorfromharnessconnector(
Figure38).

5.The“inputsdisplayed”LED,onlowerrightcolumnof
theDiagnosticACE,shouldbeilluminated.If“outputs
displayed”LEDisilluminated,pressandreleasethe
togglebutton,onDiagnosticACE,tochangeLEDto
“inputsdisplayed”.Donotholdbuttondown.
6.TheDiagnosticACEwillilluminatetheLEDassociated
witheachoftheinputswhenthatinputswitchisclosed.
