Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamagewhichcouldcausean
airleak.Replaceifdamaged.Checkthewholeintakesystem
forleaks,damageorloosehoseclamps.
Servicetheaircleanerlteronlywhentheserviceindicator
(
Figure50)requiresit.Changingtheairlterbeforeitis
necessaryonlyincreasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenthelterisremoved.

Important:Besurethecoverisseatedcorrectlyand
sealswiththeaircleanerbody.
1.Pullthelatchoutwardandrotatetheaircleanercover
counterclockwise(Figure51).

2.Removethecoverfromtheaircleanerbody.Before
removingthelter,uselowpressureair(40psi,clean
anddry)tohelpremovelargeaccumulationsofdebris
packedbetweenoutsideofprimarylterandthe
canister.Avoidusinghighpressureairwhichcould
forcedirtthroughthelterintotheintaketract.
Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebrisfrommigrating
intotheintakewhentheprimarylterisremoved.
3.Removeandreplacetheprimarylter(
Figure52).
Cleaningoftheusedelementisnotrecommendeddue
tothepossibilityofdamagetotheltermedia.Inspect
thenewlterforshippingdamage,checkingthesealing
endofthelterandthebody.Donotuseadamaged
element.Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressureto
theouterrimoftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.
Donotapplypressuretotheexiblecenterofthe
lter.

4.Cleanthedirtejectionportlocatedintheremovable
cover.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.

7:00whenviewedfromtheend.
