4.Makeinitialreeltobedknifeadjustmentsappropriate
forbacklappingonallcuttingunitswhicharetobe
backlapped.
5.Startengineandrunatidlespeed.

Keepnger,hands,andclothingaway
fromthereelsandothermovingparts.
Neveruseashorthandlesbrushtoapply
lappingcompound.
6.Selecteitherfront,rear,orbothbacklapknobsto
determinewhichreelswillbebacklapped.
7.MoveEnable/DisableswitchtoEnableposition.Move
LowerMow/Liftcontrolforwardtostartbacklapping
operationondesignatedreels.
8.Applylappingcompoundwithalonghandlebrush
(ToroPartNo.29-9100).Neveruseashorthandled
brush.
9.Ifreelsstallorbecomeerraticwhilebacklapping,stop
backlappingbymovingtheLowerMow/Liftcontrol
leverrearward.Oncethereelshavestopped,movethe
desiredreelspeedselectorknob(s)onepositioncloser
to13.ResumebacklappingbymovingtheLower
Mow/Liftcontrolleverforward.
10.Tomakeanadjustmenttothecuttingunitswhile
backlapping,turnreelsOffbymovingtheLower
Mow/Raiseleverrearward;movetheEnable/Disable
switchtoDisableandturntheengineOff.After
adjustmentshavebeencompleted,repeatsteps5
through9.
11.Whenthecuttingunitisadequatelysharpened,aburr
willformonthefrontedgeoftheknife.Usingale,
carefullyremovetheburrwithoutdullingthecutting
edge.
12.Repeatprocedureforallcuttingunitstobebacklapped.
Whenbacklapoperationhasbeencompleted,return
thebacklapknobstotheforwardowposition,lower
seatandwashalllappingcompoundoffcuttingunits.
Adjustcuttingunitreeltobedknifeasneeded.
Note:Ifthebacklapknobsarenotreturnedtothe
forwardowpositionafterbacklapping,thecutting
unitswillnotraiseorfunctionproperly.

Tractorsaresetupatthefactoryappropriatelyformost

Thefollowingadjustmentsareavailableforne-tuningofthe
machinetotheapplication:
Thecuttingunitliftcircuitsareequippedwithadjustable
valvestoensurethecuttingunitsloweratthedesiredrate.
Adjustasfollows:
Runtractionunituntiloperatingtemperatureisreached.
