Storage
StoringtheBattery
Ifthemachinewillbestoredmorethan30days,
removethebatteryandchargeitfully.Store
thebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoidquick
deteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.Toprevent
thebatteryfromfreezing,ensurethatitisfully
charged.Thespecicgravityofafullychargedbattery
is1.265to1.299.
PreparingtheMachinefor
SeasonalStorage
Followtheseproceduresanytimeyouwillbestoring
themachineformorethan30days.
PreparingtheTractionUnit
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,engagetheparkingbrake,shutoff
theengine,andremovethekeyfromtheignition
switch.
2.Thoroughlycleanthetractionunit,thecutting
units,andtheengine.
3.Checkthetirepressure.Inatealltiresto83
kPa(12psi).
4.Checkallfastenersforlooseness;tightenas
necessary.
5.Greaseoroilallgreasettingsandpivotpoints.
Wipeupanyexcesslubricant.
6.Lightlysandandusetouch-uppaintonpainted
areasthatarescratched,chipped,orrusted.
Repairanydentsinthemetalbody.
7.Servicethebatteryandcablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthe
batteryposts.
B.Removethebattery.
C.Slowlychargethebatterybeforestorage
andevery60daysthereafterfor24hoursto
preventleadsulfationofthebattery.
Topreventthebatteryfromfreezing,make
sureitisfullycharged.Thespecicgravity
ofafullychargedbatteryis1.265to1.299.
D.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswith
awirebrushandbaking-sodasolution.
E.Coatthecableterminalsandbatteryposts
withGrafo112Xskin-overgrease(T oroPart
No.505-47)orpetroleumjellytoprevent
corrosion.
