Youmayneedtobleedthefuelsystemifanyofthe
followingsituationshaveoccurred;refertoBleeding
theFuelSystem(page30):
Initialstartupofanewengine
Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponthefuel
systemcomponents.
StartingtheEngine
1.Besurethattheparkingbrakeissetandthe
cuttingunitdriveswitchisintheDISENGAGE
position.
2.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedaland
makesurethatthepedalisintheNEUTRAL
position.
3.Movethethrottlelevertothe1/2throttleposition.
4.Insertthekeyintotheswitchandrotateitto
theON/PREHEATpositionuntiltheglow-plug
indicatorlightgoesout(approximately7
seconds);thenrotatethekeytotheSTART
positiontoengagethestartermotor.
Note:Releasethekeywhentheenginestarts.
ThekeymovesautomaticallytotheON/RUN
position.
Important:Topreventoverheatingofthe
startermotor,donotengagethestarter
longerthan15seconds.After10secondsof
continuouscranking,wait60secondsbefore
engagingthestartermotoragain.
5.Whentheengineisstartedforthersttime
orafteranoverhauloftheengine,operate
themachineinforwardandreversefor1to2
minutes.Alsooperatetheliftleverandcutting
unitdriveswitchtobesureofproperoperation
ofallparts.
Turnthesteeringwheeltotheleftandrightto
checkthesteeringresponse;thenshutoffthe
engineandcheckforoilleaks,looseparts,and
anyothernoticeablemalfunctions.
CAUTION
Contactwithmovingpartscouldcause
personalinjury.
Shuttheengineoffandwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforechecking
foroilleaks,looseparts,andother
malfunctions.
