ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every200hours(morefrequentlyin
extremelydustyordirtyconditions).
•Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagewhich
couldcauseanairleak.Replaceitifitisdamaged.
Checkthewholeintakesystemforleaks,damage,
orloosehoseclamps.
•Servicetheaircleanerattherecommended
serviceintervalorearlierifengineperformance
suffersduetoextremelydusty,dirtyconditions.
Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessaryonly
increasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenthelterisremoved.
•Besurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectlyand
sealswiththeair-cleanerbody.
1.Releasethelatchessecuringtheair-cleaner
covertotheair-cleanerbody(Figure55).
2.Removethecoverfromtheair-cleanerbody
(Figure55).
3.Beforeremovingthelter,use276kPa(40psi)
ofclean,dryairtoremovelargeaccumulations
ofdebrispackedbetweentheoutsideofthe
primarylterandthecanister.
Note:Avoidusinghigh-pressureairwhich
couldforcedirtthroughthelterintotheintake
tract.Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebris
frommigratingintotheintakewhentheprimary
lterisremoved.
4.Removeandreplacethelter(Figure55).
Cleaningoftheusedelementisnot
recommendedduetothepossibilityofdamage
totheltermedia.

5.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage,
checkingthesealingendofthelterandthe
body.
Important:Donotuseadamagedelement.
6.Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressuretothe
outerrimoftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.
Important:Donotapplypressuretothe
exiblecenterofthelter.
7.Cleanthedirt-ejectionportlocatedinthe
removablecover.
8.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.
9.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalve
inadownwardposition—betweenapproximately
5o’clockand7o’clockwhenviewedfromthe
end.
10.Securethecoverlatches.

Every150hours
1.Removeeitherdrainplug(Figure56)andlet
theoilowintoadrainpan.Whentheoilstops
owing,installthedrainplug.
