ServiceInterval:Every400hours
1.Cleantheareawheretheltercanistermounts
(Figure58).
2.Removetheltercanisterandcleanthe
mountingsurface.
3.Lubricatethegasketontheltercanisterwith
cleanoil.
4.Installtheltercanisterbyhanduntilthegasket
contactsthemountingsurface;thenrotateitan
additional1/2turn.

ServicingtheBattery
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Checkthe
electrolytelevelofthebattery(ifthe
machineisinstorage,checkevery
30days).
Thebatteryelectrolytelevelmustbeproperly
maintainedandthetopofthebatterykeptclean.Ifthe
machineisstoredinanextremelyhotlocation,the
batteryrunsdownmorerapidlythanifthemachineis
storedinacoollocation.
Maintainthecelllevelwithdistilledordemineralized
water.Donotllthecellsabovethebottomofthesplit
ringinsideeachcell.Installthellercapswiththe
ventspointingtotherear(towardthefueltank).
DANGER
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacid,
whichisadeadlypoisonandcausessevere
burns.
•Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontact
withskin,eyesorclothing.Wearsafety
glassestoshieldyoureyesandrubber
glovestoprotectyourhands.
•Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
Keepthetopofthebatterycleanbywashingit
periodicallywithabrushdippedinammoniaor
bicarbonateofsodasolution.Flushthetopsurface
withwateraftercleaning.Donotremovetheller
capswhilecleaning.
Thebatterycablesmustbetightontheterminalsto
providegoodelectricalcontact.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamage
thetractorandcablescausingsparks.Sparks
cancausethebatterygassestoexplode,
resultinginpersonalinjury.
•Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
•Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
Ifcorrosionoccursattheterminals,disconnectthe
cables,negative(–)cablerst,andscrapetheclamps
