ServiceInterval:Every400hours
1.Cleantheareawheretheltercanistermounts
(Figure58).
2.Removetheltercanisterandcleanthe
mountingsurface.
3.Lubricatethegasketontheltercanisterwith
cleanoil.
4.Installtheltercanisterbyhanduntilthegasket
contactsthemountingsurface;thenrotateitan
additional1/2turn.

andholderassembly.

ServicingtheBattery
ServiceInterval:Every25hours—Checkthe
electrolytelevelofthebattery(ifthe
machineisinstorage,checkevery
30days).
Thebatteryelectrolytelevelmustbeproperly
maintainedandthetopofthebatterykeptclean.Ifthe
machineisstoredinanextremelyhotlocation,the
batteryrunsdownmorerapidlythanifthemachineis
storedinacoollocation.
Maintainthecelllevelwithdistilledordemineralized
water.Donotllthecellsabovethebottomofthesplit
ringinsideeachcell.Installthellercapswiththe
ventspointingtotherear(towardthefueltank).
DANGER
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacid,
whichisadeadlypoisonandcausessevere
burns.
Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontact
withskin,eyesorclothing.Wearsafety
glassestoshieldyoureyesandrubber
glovestoprotectyourhands.
Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
Keepthetopofthebatterycleanbywashingit
periodicallywithabrushdippedinammoniaor
bicarbonateofsodasolution.Flushthetopsurface
withwateraftercleaning.Donotremovetheller
capswhilecleaning.
Thebatterycablesmustbetightontheterminalsto
providegoodelectricalcontact.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcoulddamage
thetractorandcablescausingsparks.Sparks
cancausethebatterygassestoexplode,
resultinginpersonalinjury.
Alwaysdisconnectthenegative(black)
batterycablebeforedisconnectingthe
positive(red)cable.
Alwaysconnectthepositive(red)battery
cablebeforeconnectingthenegative
(black)cable.
Ifcorrosionoccursattheterminals,disconnectthe
cables,negative(–)cablerst,andscrapetheclamps
