•Keephands,feet,andclothingawayfrommoving
partsandthemowerdischargearea.
•Fillthefueltankuntilthelevelis12mm(1/2inch)
belowthebottomofthellerneck.Donotoverll.
•Checkthesafetyinterlockswitchesdailyforproper
operation.Ifaswitchshouldfail,replacethe
switchbeforeoperatingthemachine.
•Whenstartingtheengine,engagetheparking
brake,putthetractionpedalinneutral,and
disengagethebladedrive.Aftertheenginestarts,
releasetheparkingbrakeandkeepyourfoot
offofthetractionpedal.Themachinemustnot
move.Ifmovementisevident,refertoAdjusting
theTractionDriveforNeutral(page43)toadjust
thetractiondrive.
•Useextremecautionwhenoperatingclosetosand
traps,ditches,creeks,steephillsides,orother
hazards.
•Reducespeedwhenmakingsharpturns.
•Donotturnonhills.
•Donotoperateonasidehillthatistoosteep.A
rollovermayoccurbeforelosingtraction.
•Theslopeangleatwhichthemachineswilltipis
dependentonmanyfactors.Amongtheseare
mowingconditionssuchaswetorundulating
terrain,speed(especiallyinturns),positionof
thecuttingunits(upordown),tirepressure,and
operatorexperience.Atsidehillanglesof20
degreesorless,theriskofarolloverislow.As
theslopeangleincreasestoarecommended
maximumlimitof25degrees,theriskofarollover
increasestoamoderatelevel.Donotexceeda
25-degreesidehillslopeanglebecausethe
riskofarolloverandseriousinjuryordeath
isveryhigh.
•Forsteeringcontrol,lowerthecuttingunitswhen
goingdownslopes.
•Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.
•Usethereversepedalforbraking.
•Watchfortrafcwhennearorcrossingroads.
Alwaysyieldtheright-of-way.
•Raisethecuttingunitswhendrivingfrom1work
areatoanother.
•Donottouchtheengine,mufer,exhaustpipe,or
hydraulictankwhiletheengineisrunningorsoon
afterithasstoppedbecausetheseareascouldbe
hotenoughtocauseburns.
•Thismachineisnotdesignedorequippedfor
on-roaduseandisaslow-movingvehicle.Ifyou
mustcrossortravelonapublicroad,youshould
beawareofandcomplywithlocalregulations,
suchasrequiredlights,slowmovingvehiclesigns,
andreectors.
MaintenanceandStorage
•Beforeservicingormakingadjustments,shutoff
theengine,andremovetheignitionkey.
•Ensurethattheentiremachineisproperly
maintainedandingoodoperatingcondition.
Frequentlycheckallnuts,bolts,screws,and
hydraulicttings.
•Makesurethatallhydrauliclineconnectorsare
tightandthatallhydraulichosesandlinesarein
goodconditionbeforeapplyingpressuretothe
system.
•Keepyourbodyandhandsawayfrompinhole
leaksornozzlesthatejecthydraulicuidunder
highpressure.Usepaperorcardboard,not
yourhands,tosearchforleaks.Hydraulicuid
escapingunderpressurecanhavesufcientforce
topenetratetheskinandcauseseriousinjury.If
uidisinjectedintotheskinitmustbesurgically
removedwithinafewhoursbyadoctorfamiliar
withthisformofinjury;otherwise,gangrenemay
result.
•Beforedisconnectingorperforminganyworkon
thehydraulicsystem,relieveallpressureinthe
systembystoppingtheengineandloweringthe
cuttingunitstotheground.
•Iftheenginemustberunningtoperforma
maintenanceadjustment,keephands,feet,
clothing,andanypartsofthebodyawayfromthe
cuttingunits,attachments,andanymovingparts.
Keepeveryoneaway.
•Donotoverspeedtheenginebychanging
governorsettings.Toensuresafetyandaccuracy,
haveanAuthorizedT oroDistributorcheckthe
maximumenginespeedwithatachometer.
•Shutofftheenginebeforecheckingtheoilor
addingoiltothecrankcase.
•Ifmajorrepairsareeverneededorifassistanceis
desired,contactanAuthorizedToroDistributor.
•Toensureoptimumperformanceandcontinued
safetycerticationofthemachine,useonly
genuineT ororeplacementpartsandaccessories.
Replacementpartsandaccessoriesmadeby
othermanufacturerscouldbedangerous,and
suchusecouldvoidtheproductwarranty.
