position.

mow/transportslideisintheMOWposition.
•Thecuttingunitsdonotlowerwhenthe
mow/transportslideisintheTRANSPORTposition.
Tilt-SteeringLever
Pullthetilt-steeringlever(Figure26)backtotiltthe
steeringwheeltothedesiredposition.Thenpushthe
leverforwardtosecuretheposition.

Usetheignitionswitch(Figure27)toruntheengine
andlights.Theignitionswitchhas3positions:
•TheSHUTOFFpositionshutsofftheengine.
•TheRUN/PREHEATpositionallowstheengineto
runorpreheatsthecylinderheadoftheengine.
•TheSTARTpositionenergizesthestarter.
Note:WhenthekeyisintheRUN/PREHEATposition,
theglowplugenergizesandtheindicatorlight
illuminatesforapproximately7seconds.
Throttle
Movethethrottle(Figure27)forwardtoincreasethe
enginespeedandrearwardtodecreasetheengine
speed.
CuttingUnitDriveSwitch
Thecuttingunitdriveswitch(Figure27)has2
positions:ENGAGEandDISENGAGE.Therockerswitch
operatesasolenoidvalveonthevalvebanktodrive
thecuttingunits.
HourMeter
Thehourmeter(Figure27)indicatesthetotalhours
ofmachineoperation.Itstartstofunctionwhenever
thekeyswitchison.
LowerMow/RaiseLever
Usethelowermow/raiselever(Figure27)tolower
thecuttingunitsandrunreelsorraisesthecutting
unitsandstopthereels.
Youcannotlowerthecuttingunitswhenthe
mow/transportleverisintheTRANSPORTposition.
Note:Whenthecuttingunitdriveswitchisinthe
ENGAGEposition,youdonotneedtoholdtheleverin
theforwardpositionwhilethecuttingunitsarelowered
orraised.
EngineCoolantTemperature
WarningLight
Thetemperaturewarninglight(Figure27)illuminates
iftheenginecoolanttemperatureishigh.Atthis
temperature,thecuttingunitsshutoff.Ifthecoolant
temperaturerisesanother5.5°C(10°F),theengine
shutsofftopreventfurtherdamage.
Oil-PressureWarningLight
Theoil-pressurewarninglight(Figure27)glowsifthe
engineoilpressuredropsbelowasafelevel.
AlternatorLight
Thealternatorlight(Figure27)shutsoffwhenthe
engineruns.Ifthealternatorlightilluminateswhilethe
engineruns,checkthechargingsystemandrepair
itasnecessary.
Glow-PlugIndicator
Theglow-plugindicatorlight(Figure27)illuminates
whentheglowplugsareenergized.
