ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every200hours(morefrequentlyin
extremedustyordirtyconditions).
RemovingtheAirFilter
Checktheaircleanerbodyfordamagewhich
couldcauseanairleak.Replaceitifitisdamaged.
Checkthewholeintakesystemforleaks,damage,
orloosehoseclamps.
Servicetheaircleanerattherecommended
serviceintervalorearlierifengineperformance
declinesduetoextremelydusty,dirtyconditions.
Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessaryonly
increasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenthelterisremoved.
Ensurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectlyandseals
withtheair-cleanerbody.

4.Removethecoverfromtheair-cleanerbody.
5.Beforeremovingthelter,uselow-pressure
air—276kPa(40psi),cleananddry—tohelp
removelargeaccumulationsofdebrispacked
betweentheoutsideofprimarylterandthe
canister.Avoidusinghigh-pressureairwhich
couldforcedirtthroughthelterintotheintake
tract.Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebris
frommigratingintotheintakewhenyouremove
theprimarylter.
6.Removethelterelement(Figure65).
Note:Cleaningtheusedelementmaydamage
theltermedia.
7.Removetherubberoutletvalve(Figure65)from
thedirtejectionportoftheair-cleanercover.
8.Cleantheejectionandoutletvalve,andinstall
theoutletvalvetotheport.
InstallingtheAirFilter
1.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamageand
checkthesealingendofthelterandthebody.
Important:Donotuseadamagedelement.
2.Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressuretothe
outerrimoftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.
Important:Donotapplypressuretothe
exiblecenterofthelter.
3.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalve
inadownwardposition—betweenapproximately
5o'clockto7o'clockwhenviewedfromtheend.
4.Securethecoverwiththe2latches.
5.Closeandlatchthehood.
