Shutofftheenginebeforecheckingtheoilor
addingoiltothecrankcase.
Donotchangethegovernorspeedoroverspeed
theengine.
ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Every200hours(morefrequentlyin
extremelydustyordirtyconditions).
Checktheair-cleanerbodyfordamagewhich
couldcauseanairleak.Replaceitifitisdamaged.
Checkthewholeintakesystemforleaks,damage,
orloosehoseclamps.
Servicetheaircleanerattherecommended
serviceintervalorearlierifengineperformance
suffersduetoextremelydusty,dirtyconditions.
Changingtheairlterbeforeitisnecessaryonly
increasesthechanceofdirtenteringtheengine
whenyouremovethelter.
Besurethatthecoverisseatedcorrectlyand
sealswiththeair-cleanerbody.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,engagetheparkingbrake,shutoff
theengine,andremovethekey.
2.Releasethelatchessecuringtheair-cleaner
covertotheair-cleanerbody(Figure55).
3.Removethecoverfromtheair-cleanerbody
(Figure55).
4.Beforeremovingthelter,uselow-pressureair
(276kPa[40psi],cleananddry)tohelpremove
largeaccumulationsofdebrispackedbetween
outsideofprimarylterandthecanister.
Note:Avoidusinghigh-pressureair,which
couldforcedirtthroughthelterintotheintake
tract.Thiscleaningprocesspreventsdebris
frommigratingintotheintakewhenyouremove
theprimarylter.
5.Removeandreplacethelter(Figure55).
Donotcleantheusedelementbecauseitcould
damagetheltermedia.

6.Inspectthenewlterforshippingdamage,
checkingthesealingendofthelterandthe
body.
Important:Donotuseadamagedelement.
7.Insertthenewlterbyapplyingpressuretothe
outerrimoftheelementtoseatitinthecanister.
Important:Donotapplypressuretothe
exiblecenterofthelter.
8.Cleanthedirt-ejectionportlocatedinthe
removablecover.
9.Removetherubberoutletvalvefromthecover,
cleanthecavityandreplacetheoutletvalve.
10.Installthecoverorientingtherubberoutletvalve
inadownwardposition—betweenapproximately
5o’clockto7o’clockwhenviewedfromtheend.
11.Securethecoverlatches.

andFilter
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst50hours
Every150hours
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunits,engagetheparkingbrake,shutoff
theengine,andremovethekey.
2.Removeeitherdrainplug(Figure56)andlet
theoilowintoadrainpan.Whentheoilstops
owing,installthedrainplug.
