LubricatingtheVerticutter

Eachcuttingunithas7greasettingsthatyoumustlubricate

weeklywithNo.2lithiumgrease.Thelubricationpointsare

thefrontroller(2),therearroller(2),thereelbearings(2),and

thebed-knifeadjuster.

Important:Lubricatingthecuttingunitsimmediately

afterwashinghelpspurgewateroutofthebearingsand

increasesbearinglife.

1.Wipeeachgreasettingwithacleanrag.

2.Applygreaseuntilcleangreasecomesoutoftheroller

sealsandthebearingreliefvalve(Figure15).

3.Wipeanyexcessgreaseaway.

AdjustingtheReelBearings

Toensurelonglifeofthereelbearings,periodicallycheckfor

anyreelendplay.Checkandadjustthebearingsasfollows:

1.Holdontothereelshaftandtrytomovethereel

assemblysidetoside(Figure16).

2.Ifthereisanyendplay,proceededasfollows:

A.Loosentheexternalsetscrewthatsecuresthe

bearingadjustingnuttothebearinghousing

locatedontheleftsideofthecuttingunit(Figure

17).

B.Usea1-3/8inchsocketwrenchtoslowlytighten

thebearingadjustmentnutuntilthereisnoend

playinthereel.Ifadjustingthenutdoesnot

eliminatereelendplay,replacethereelbearings.

Important:Thereelbearingsdonotrequire

preload.Overtighteningthebearingadjuster

nutwilldamagethereelbearings.
