blackcoating,wornelectrodes,anoilylm,or

Ifyouseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,the
engineisoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingonthe
insulatorusuallymeanstheaircleanerisdirty.
Useagappingtool/feelergaugetocheckandadjust
theairgapto0.6to0.7mm(0.02to0.03inch).

WARNING
Whileyouaremaintainingoradjustingthe
machine,someonecouldstarttheengine.
Accidentallystartingtheenginecould
seriouslyinjureyouorotherbystanders.
Removethekeyfromtheignition(if
equipped),engageparkingbrake,andpull
thewire(s)offthesparkplug(s)beforeyou
doanymaintenance.Alsopushthewire(s)
asidesoitdoesnotaccidentallycontactthe
sparkplug(s).
Performthefollowingbeforeservicing,cleaning,or
makinganyadjustmentstothemachine.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Shutofftheengineandremovethekeyfromthe
machine(ifequipped).
3.Engagetheparkingbrake.
4.Waitforallmovingpartstostopallowtheengine
tocoolbeforeservicing,storing,ormaking
repairs.
5.Disconnectthespark-plugwire(Figure5).
