Subject: Matched V-Belts (92-9218) will come off Idler Pulley.
The Clutch Lever (93-6003) can allow a misalignment condition between Input Drive
Pulley (92-9216) and Idler Pulley Assembly (88-7890). The misalignment between
these pulleys can cause the Matched Set V-Belts (92-9218) to track off the pulley
causing damage to the belts and a loss of traction engagement.
If this condition exists, install Flanged Idler Pulley Assembly (98-7296) in place of Idler
Pulley Assembly (88-7890). The Flanges on the Pulley will prevent the belt from
coming off the idler pulley maintaining traction engagement. Installation instructions are
included with this bulletin.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove Idler Pulley
Assembly 88-7890 from
Clutch Lever 93-6003.
2. Install Flanged Idler Pulley
Assembly 98-7296 on existing
Cap Screw.
IMPORTANT:
Install Flanged Idler Pulley
Assembly 98-7296 with offset
center hub toward the engine.
3. Position a straight edge
across Flanged Idler Pulley
Assembly 98-7296 and
visually align with Input Drive
Pulley 92-9216 ensuring
parallel alignment is achieved.
4. Adjust Belt Guide so there is
.060” (1.6mm) gap between
guide finger and backside of
drive belts with the drive belts
engaged.
