CheckingtheOperationofthe
InterlockSwitches
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
CAUTION
Ifthesafetyinterlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damagedthemachinecouldoperateunexpectedly
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
CheckingtheOperator-Presence
Control(OPC)Interlock
1.Pushthekickstanddownwithyourfootandpullup
onthehandlesupportuntilthekickstandhasrotated
forward,overcenter.
2.WiththeOPCreleased,attempttoengagethetraction
lever(Figure31).Thetractionlevershouldnotengage.
Ifthetractionleverengages,theinterlocksystemneeds
service.Correcttheproblembeforeoperating.

3.WiththeOPCpressedandthetractionleverengaged,
releasetheOPC(Figure31).Thetractionlevershould
disengage.Ifthetractionleverdoesnotdisengage,the
interlocksystemneedsservice.Correcttheproblem
beforeoperating.
4.WiththeOPCpressedandtheshiftlevermovedtothe
left,engagethetractionandreeldrive,releasetheOPC
(Figure31).Thetractionlevershoulddisengage.Ifthe
tractionleverdoesnotdisengage,theinterlocksystem
needsservice.Correcttheproblembeforeoperating;
refertoServicingtheTractionInterlockSwitch(page
35).
5.WiththeOPCpressedandtheshiftlevermovedtothe
left,engagethetractionandreeldrive.Movetheshift
levertotherighttodisengagethereeldrive(Figure19).
Thereeldriveshoulddisengage.Ifnot,theinterlock
systemneedsservice.Correcttheproblembefore
operating;refertoServicingtheTractionInterlock
Switch(page35).

1.Ensurethatthekickstandisdown.
2.PresstheOPCandengagethetractionlever(Figure19)
3.Usethekeyswitchtostartthemachine.The
InfoCenterLCDdisplaywilllightupanddisplaya
messagewarningthatthetractionleverisengaged.If
thiswarningdoesnotappear,theinterlockswitchneeds
service.Correcttheproblembeforeoperating;referto
ServicingtheTractionInterlockSwitch(page35).
4.Turnoffthemachineandreturnthetractionleverto
neutral.
CheckingtheBrakeInterlockSwitch
1.Ensurethatthekickstandisdown.
2.Withthemachineonandtheservicebrakeengaged
(nottheparkingbrakelatch)withmoderateforce,press
theOPCandengagethetractionlever(Figure19).The
motorshouldlabortoovercomethebrakewithout
producingerrorsontheInfoCenterLCDdisplay.
Itmaydisplayahighpowerconsumptionadvisory
(smallerbatterywithalightningbolt).Ifyougetany
otheradvisory,correcttheproblembeforeoperating.
3.Withthemachineon,engagetheparkingbrakelatch,
presstheOPC,andengagethetractionlever(Figure
19andFigure20).Themotorshouldnotrunandyou
shouldgetanadvisoryontheInfoCenterpanel.Ifnot,
theinterlockswitchneedsservice.Correcttheproblem
beforeoperating;refertoServicingtheBrakeInterlock
Switch(page36).
4.Turnoffthemachineandreturnthetractionleverto
neutral.
5.Carefullylowerthemachineoffofthekickstand.
