SUBJECT: Leaking Hydrostat Seal caused by high case pressure.
SITUATION: The hydrostat and gear pump assembly may leak due to excessive case
pressure caused by a shipping plug mistakenly left in the gear pump
assembly during production. If the shipping plug is left in place, an
increase in hydrostatic case pressure will occur. This condition may cause
a leak between the gear pump and hydrostat, or at the trunion shaft seal.
CORRECTION: All units listed above need to have the gear pump section removed and
inspected for the presence of the shipping plug. If this plug is found it
needs to be removed and discarded to restore proper operation. Refer to
the illustration on the back of this bulletin for details.
